I hoped you smooshed it quickly.

N-not so much "smooshed", as... uhm... made it crash into an enormous billboard. I... suppose the end result could be considered the same...

Problem solved, either way. . . . Though I was under the impression that monsters didn't generally exist in your world.

No, they didn't! I wonder... what could have made a grasshopper grow to such a size? Can you think of anything, Mr. Klarth, capable of making something normally so small transform like that? There was a man riding the beast... I think he must have been controlling it. Come to think of it, he looked a little... odd as well...

There are lots of ways it might've occurred in my world. But I can't say about yours -- If there was a man controlling it, I'd expect that he had a hand in the matter.

What do you mean by odd?

Really? Lots? The more I hear of your world, the more interesting it seems, Mr. Klarth!

Well... he also had a pair of antennae like the grasshopper! I don't remember anyone back home with animal-like characteristics...

Well! Magic certainly is amazing; I won't deny that.

Sounds like you may have a problem with a nature spirit of some sort. Alternatively, someone enjoys dressing up like a giant bug and eating things.

I think so! Especially considering that we didn't have it back home!

A nature spirit... I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully in time I'll remember the truth behind it all... I hope that I did eventually come to understand what happened.

But of course, your abilities with paper are fascinating as well. I've got to do some research on that sometime . . .

Keep in mind that was just a guess. If you don't have magic, you might not have nature spirits either.

Research? On papermastery?

...that could be very beneficial! I keep remembering new applications for my abilities... if it could speed that along, I might learn something that would prove useful to the recidents of Memento Eden. I wouldn't mind assisting with that if you're really interested!

Of course I am! It's doubtlessly got some connection to magic, even if it's not magic in the sense I'm familiar with. We can start right now if you'd like -- What have you remembered about it so far?

Well, from what I've remembered, papermastery is born of a bonding between people and books... an affection strong enough to be reciprocated by each party. I've remembered several applications for paper mastery, including strengthening paper to sustain blows, sharpening paper to cut through objects, creating paper golems, and strengthening it against water and fire.

An affection for paper . . . Then does the paper possess a sense of sentience in your world? Or even just a consciousness. The ability to manipulate such a commonplace object must really come in handy.
