Okay, so, I've finally gone through the entire lot of submissions. There were stacks and stacks, and it was so heartening to see so much support. So if you submitted an app, it might be worthwhile checking out your communities management to see if you received an invite. In some cases, I checked out additional art from galleries and LJ pics to get more of an idea of your work.
To those who applied and didn't get an invite in this first round, my judgement is by no means objective or final. One of the pitfalls of starting off a comm with one mod (which was a silly judgement on my own behalf) is that membership of the comm is going to be more subjective in the starting period, and therefore what might get you into a comm with more moderators to... er, well, moderate, might get overlooked by only one moderator with her own preferences and tastes. Different people find different things funny, and some stuff I didn't quite get was obviously liked by other people, and their tastes are no less valid than mine.
By the next intake round there will hopefully be some additional mods to help with the intake screening to make it a little bit more objective and to provide a wider range of opinion and taste, so I do encourage you to reapply then. In the meantime, our first monthly thematic challenge will be up on February 1, and I'll be opening submissions for this to any and all non-members also - which will give me another chance to see your work and a chance for you guys to be featured on the community.
Thanks to everyone, and if you need any assistance you can contact me by email at adjectived_noun@DIESPAMDIEhotmail.com. Obviously the DIESPAMDIE bit gets taken out :)
