indie music
I would like to clarify something for all the haters out there: I don't listen to indie rock music or alternative techno or prog rock because i think it makes me deep and different to separate myself from the mainstream. I don't listen to the mainstream music because the songs bore me - sure I'll do a car dance if a catchy beat comes on the radio, but it's just ear candy. it is not a substantive relationship.
i listen to way the fuck out there bands because that's who i am. i am the guy who finds depth and soul in the lyrics and intricacies of mars volta; i find the sublime in the crafted combination of sound clips and guitar in the books; my techno is the black moth super rainbow because their synths make me want to dance. godspeed you black emperor isn't my chic underground music - it is my dark, crushing neonihilistic music for midnight car trips. i listen to music that breaks people skulls like curbing because that's what gets me up and going in life. my music i listen to and find more to love every day. i am the strange guy who understands the simplistic nature of "my inner-lobe is shaped like rosalyn carter, and she says my map is home again but tore her face down."
That's just who I am, and that's how i live my life. i do not have time in my life to listen to what i think would make me popular, i listen to what i want because i find it beautiful. i could care less about music scenes and the implications my music makes.
