This post is dedicated to
halcyon_shift as a funny way to relieve the stress that she is currently dealing with. The theme of both her stress and this post is Hos!
While talking with Lithy the other day I noticed that my “type” when it comes to television shows is holding strong, even though it might not seem like it with the addition of my latest crack-addiction: Gossip Girl. Though there are a few exceptions - which I will also list - my favourite television characters are almost ALWAYS the “snarky, multi-layered, man-whores”. And this post is dedicated to them and their ability to suck me into a show. :D
Supernatural:
Dean Winchester
Biggest Man-whore moment: When Dean leaves Sam in the car and actually gives him the thumbs-up through the house window as he gets down and dirty with some random chick who we never see, but Sam sees too much of a few moments later.
Note: Dean checks out the T & A of every woman that he comes into contact with, but still manages to convince half of fandom that he is totally into his Brother... now THAT is a man-whore!
Gossip Girl:
Chuck Bass
Biggest Man-whore moment: Waking up with two female members of his father’s hotel staff in his bed, while his best friend slept on the couch in clear view of the whole thing. He then offered the two women to his BFF in case Nate (the BFF) needed a little morning something.
Note: Just look at him. MAN-WHORE! Chuck is one of those characters that developed so quickly that it is almost freakish. He began the series as the scum of the earth, but has since revealed more layers than any other character on the show. He started off seeing women as objects to be used and discarded, only to do a complete 180 and then head back again in the span of 13 episodes (3 of which he wasn't in). It is a credit to Ed Westwick that the character has not jumped the shark, and that all of these changes make complete sense.
Charlie Jade:
01 Boxer
Biggest Man-whore moment: The biggest would probably be when he dreams about sexing his father’s mistress, but my favourite is when he throws his lover onto the bar at his night club, rips off her pants, and kisses her inner thigh about an inch away from where the lord split her. Boy, do I ever want that actress’s job!
Note: Screw having a woman at every port, this man has women in two Universes! Also, he should ALWAYS be shirtless, and here is why:
VISUAL EXAMPLE A VISUAL EXAMPLE B Veronica Mars:
Logan Echolls
Biggest Man-whore moment: Sleeping with his best friend’s step-mom on the family couch.
Note: This show was surprisingly heavy on the sarcastic multi-layered man-whores, with Weevil, Sheriff Lamb, and my second favourite character Dick Casablancas also counting in this group. It is just sad that the writers chose to take Dick ten steps backwards towards the end of the series instead of allowing the character the depth the actor deserved. Or they could have at least let him wear the "I have Candy" t-shirt more often. :P
Buffy/Angel:
Spike
Biggest Man-whore moment: From the sex games with Harmony, to the buffy bot, to the door sex scene… pick a moment, it will be man-whorey!
Note: Not much to say about Spike since he is pretty self explanatory. Besides, I haven't touched either of those shows since Angel ended, and Spike has been off my radar for some time. I think I overdosed way back when, and now can't go back without feeling that same sick queasiness wash over me.
Also, I think Wesley is getting the short end of the stick since he was my favourite for the Angel series before Spike arrived, and would probably steal my attention away if I went back now. Wesley = multi-layered man-whore minus the snark.
The X-Files:
Alex Krycek a.k.a. Rat Boy
Biggest Man-whore moment: His dirty, bad, wrong relationship with Marita Covarrubias.
Note: The death of Krycek is something that I have NEVER forgiven Chris Carter or the character of Agent Skinner for. If Carter cannot figure out a way to have Krycek in the second X-Files movie then I am NOT going to see it.
Alias: Mr Julian Sark
Biggest Man-whore moment: From wanting to have sex with someone in a Sydney Bristow latex mask, to his flirting with Sydney while simultaneously informing her that he considers her mother to be like his mother as well... Sark is another one of those ‘name a moment and it will be man-whorey’ type characters.
Note: I miss this character! Not the show, just him. If only JJ actually knew what he was doing and had made the show a Sydney/Sark spy versus spy thriller... *le sigh*
Dark Angel:
Alec McDowell a.k.a. X5-494
Biggest Man-whore moment: Letting a stripper lick his face.
Note: Alec and Original Cindy were pretty much the only good things about Dark Angel in season 2, however the show could have been much better if the writers had followed through on making Alec a real love interest for Max, and thus got her character out of BITCH mode. What was funny about his character was that he took pride in the fact that he told people what he really thought and wasn't afraid to tell a woman that he wanted her, but he couldn't do either of these things when it came to Max... so he was a man-whore with a weakness.
Friday Night Lights:
Tim Riggins
Biggest Man-whore moment: Sleeping with the much older single mom next door.
Note: Riggins is the TRUE essence of man-whore! Plus, he is played by an actor who played hockey his entire life with the hopes of going pro (until a knee injury changed that plan) and has the body to prove it. N'uff said.
Life:
Charlie Crews
Biggest Man-whore moment: When he tried to bring the two barely legal girls home with him after knowing them 5 minutes.
Note: Charlie is an odd sort of man-whore, because he doesn't have the usual traits for one, and his man-whore behaviour derives from the fact that he was locked up in jail for 12 years and REALLY needs to get laid A LOT now that he is out. We have seen two of his flings so far(and his attempt at two more before he was so rudely interrupted), and he still manages to have an emotionally intimate relationship with his married attorney too.
The Tudors:
Charles Brandon
the first Duke of Suffolk
Biggest Man-whore moment: Sexing the Princess of England when he was suppose to be delivering a virgin bride to the Portugese king.
Note: I'm adding Brandon 2 days after this post was originally put up because I forgot about him. I think I blocked out Brandon because the show got so ridiculous that I tried very hard to forget it. To say the show is historically inaccurate would be very generous of me, and as pretty as Henry Cavill is playing Charles Brandon, he is also one of the only two things that make watching the show bearable. Thankfully, since the show is so far from reality I can look at it as I would any other show of completely ficticious characters.
EXCEPTIONS:
Battlestar Galactica: Kara Thrace/Starbuck (snarky, multi-layered, fem-whore)
Firefly: Mal Reynolds (snarky, multi-layered, not so much a man-whore)
Band of Brothers: Winters & Luz equally (this doesn’t count since it is based on real people.)
Millennium: Frank Black (no one fitting my criteria existed on the show)
Wonderfalls: Jaye (Snarky, multi-layered, non-fem-whore)
Heroes: Sylar (multi-layered, manipulative, non-man-whore - I haven't seen season 2, so if this changed do not tell me)
The Black Donnellys: Tommy (snarky, multi-layered, non-man-whore)
Burn Notice: Fi (snarky & dangerous woman with explosives)
Dexter, Wire in the Blood, Sports Night, The West Wing, Studio 60, Traveler: I don't have a favourite.
More ridiculous posts to come as I try to stay in a good mood after seeing my test/assignment schedule for the next three weeks... KILL ME NOW!
