OOOOOOK.......wow, that was an insanely good show. And the rest of my day sucked, so here it goes......
MISS MACHINE GETS PREGNANT 2004 TOUR RE-CAP!!!!!!!!
by johnnyburma1
7:00 - Misery Signals: 'Remember that guy from that Wisconsin band who through the brick through the window?'
Shadamn, this band surprised me. Honestly, I really didn't know what to expect, but they were pretty damn hardcore, not really reminiscent of any other band I've seen live. The singer was somewhat spastic, doing the 'one arm behind my back' hardcore thang, and they had some pretty damn good riffs, made me think a little bit of Norma Jean if no one else. I was pitched off from somewhat of a distance away from the pit, but it was alive. Check this band out.
7:45 - Zao: 'BURN IT DOWN AND WALK AWAY!!!!!'
CHRIST-CORE AT IT'S VERY BEST!!!! That's actually not even true. I would have to pick As I Lay Dying over this band, but that don't mean Zao can't put on a decent live-show. Their singer is a stout/chubby/hairy dude who uses his hands a lot in the same fashion as Tommy Rogers of BTBAM, like a wizard an' shit. And one of their guitarists was all over the place; the fretboard, the floor, the air, etc. They aroused the same kind of chaos around the place the same way Signals did. Check this band out if you really want to.
8:45 - Everytime I Die: 'THIS IS A ROCK AND ROLL TAKEOVER!!!!!'
The lights dimmed and the sound of pre-recorded thunder blasted through the PA. The drummer sat behind his set started riding the cymbals and Jordan came out and started playing a familiar riff over the thunder sound. THUNDERSTRUCK!!!! No, they didn't cover the whole song, but it was just within the ETID humor to do something like that before breaking into "She's My Rushmore". They blasted through some familiar shit like 'Ebolarama' and 'I Been Gone a Long Time', plus some stuff off of Last Night in Town, which I totally have to get now. I also bought Hot Damn! right after their set. Energetic as hell; scene kids jumping on stage giving Keith hugs and shit while be pushed off repeatedly by hard-assed BB King's security. You know this band. They kick ass live. That is all.
9:45 - Dillinger Escape Plan: '....I'm gone....'
....The only words uttered by Greg Puciato in between the breakdowns of 'Sugar Coated Soar', the last song they played. Totally insane. Just insane. They blazed through some personal favorites as well, including 'Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants', 'Baby's First Coffin' and the inimitable '43% Burnt'. No '4th Grade Dropout' though, but I have no right to complain, because this was one of the most insane hardcore sets I've seen, rivaled only by Converge last week. I was much closer to the pit for this as well, singin' along, seeing everyone get tossed to and fro, watching Ben pummel numerous ESPs to hell. I think he's my favorite hardcore guitarist, but that list isn't hard to make. He was even more allover the place than the Zao guitarist I mentioned before. I can still feel the glare of the strobe lights and the lyrics of 'Sunshine the Werewolf' in the back of my throat.....brilliant. I saw the Dillinger Escape Plan live.
....OK....I might be able to go to bed now....I'm about done with my second run-through of Hot Damn! and I kinda feel like doing some laundry or something. I'm going back to therapy again tomorrow, third time this week. It's worth it though, I need this. At 10 AM, though, that's a hassle. Alright, Peaceout, for now.
