Rampant Decay in Brooklyn - 3.14.09

Got up around 10:30 am after passing out around 5 am. I wanted to be up and alive for the car ride and be able to get in a good workout since I knew I wouldn't even be able to bring dumbells [other than Skater and Eric] to the show to workout before the set.

The car ride was alright, listened to some good jams. Got to the club and walked around for a while. We got some pizza and I started bugging out with paranoia and nervousness because I knew that nobody would be coming out tonight since the only local band dropped off. Went to the club and continued to freak out silently to myself and think how I was wasting everyone in my band's time and other usual self-loathing, self-doubting funtime Larry shenanigans.

FINALLY someone that works at the club shows up to set up mics and tell the bands what's going on. We play and it's great. I can hear everything and was able to get into it and didn't feel ripped off like I do with some sets. The crowd was 4-5 friends of ours that live in the area and then the other bands on the show. Still it was a good response and I sold three shirts pretty much as soon as we were done.

The Leviathan's Mandible were on next. I know these guys through SMC. From the stuff I'd heard I didn't think it was going to be my sort of thing, but they were really great. Almost like older Carcass with some doomy/sludgey parts. Their singer reminds me a lot of Dave from Composted, a show with those two bands would be funny just for the doppleganger vibe. I don't think they have much merch with them but that's ok because I'm broke anyways.

I missed most of Unmen because Skater offered to get me some beers at this place down the street that sells 32 oz. beers for $3.50. Sorry guys, but I need to forget I'm alive. We go there and I keep thinking I see Matt Doty from Quincy. So weird.

I get back and watch Okosu. It's cool but I'm not into modern death metal I guess. I'm thankful we sold those shirts so I can give Pat and Eric some money for their gas at least and not feel like a total shitheel/failure. I am wasted and yell about Warzone/sing Guns n' Roses the whole way home. Hopefully next time will go better, but I've had it worse.
