My evening out was hampered by Leeds' 'Santa Soc' playing cheesy Christmas tunes like 'Stay Another Day' and 'The Millennium Prayer' in the union's Old Bar. The Old Bar is probably the most half-arsed union pub I've seen, even worse than UCL's Phineas Bar. It has doubles for £3.30, flickering screens showing Sumo wrestling on Eurosport, and

It is terrifying. The fact that they were drunk just added to the sheer horror of being strangled with a garland of tinsel and being told to sing along to a hideous downtempo version of 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree'. Which I won't do in December, let alone October.
