She’s standing there with him. The little thief.
She glares at the pair of them huddled close, he’s whispering in her ear no doubt, probably about something he shouldn’t. She knows the phrase forbidden fruit well enough to apply it here, and she seethes with jealousy as she spies Marian turn her head and laugh at whatever outrageous thing it is Robin has dared to utter, the high peal drifting across the fields and to her ears.
She glares some more as the other girl fiddles flirtatiously with the end of her long glossy braid. The Earl’s son and the Sheriff’s daughter. Who’d ever look at her - a mere potter’s daughter - when there’s that competition?
