Summary: Set in 2x11, Guy contemplates Marian's fate.

He rested his forehead against the cool stone wall, welcoming the icy breeze that came in through the window. He breathed in deeply, grateful for its calming effect, and shut his eyes. Try as he might, he could not close his mind to the image of her face as she pleaded with him, the scar in her side that betrayed her night-time misadventures, the gallows in the courtyard below for which she was destined.

A vision cropped up unbidden of a noose tightening around her pale throat, a haunting look of resignation and fear in her eyes. He pressed a fist to his forehead, rubbed hard at his eyes, willing the image to un-brand itself from his mind. He beat at the walls, pounding the rough stone until he bloodied his knuckles. He paced the room, cursing her charitable streak and the wilfulness that had led him to this impossible decision.

A maid scurried past him and he raised he head to snap at her for disturbing him. He stopped suddenly, staring after her has she turned around the corner, brown curls flying, in her hastening away from him and his renowned temper. He remained perfectly still for several long moments, mind racing, before he made up his mind.

Ignoring the curious stares that followed him as he raced through the castle, he sought out the one person who could help him.

“Allan, will you do me a favour?”
