Rumours of my break-up may have been greatly exaggerated. She was in hospital and so unable to text or Myspace. She did for some reason have access to Youtube to upload videos on her friends iPod, but was unable to send Myspace messages. I don't know how beleivable that is but i'm having a go at backpedalling and apologising like mad. Not sure our relationship could survive this one, though. I even deleted her from my friends list... which is like a solidification of "overness" isn't it? XD
I miss HMV in Peterburough. Or was it Virgin? Don't remember now, but if it was i ain't going back there.
At the weekend the new sushi resturant in Cambridge was mobbed, so i instead had Thai curry. All the cosmopolitan people, desperate to show how international they are, used to mob that stall, but now they've moved on.
I also got the 1949 Comicolour Album, published by Gerald G Swan, one of the many small publishers that cropped up during and just after the war. If some spiv could get hold of a paper allocation they'd put out a comic as it was certain to sell, people needed escapism then! Also with the flood of American soldiers and their comics people were realising you could have adventure stories as picture-strips as well as funny stories... so a lot of these 40's comics were very interesting. Unfortunatley because of rationing and recycling they are very rare and expensive now!
Not that the Comicolour Album is a 'paper' comic, or an adventure comic XD, it's a hardback "funnies" annual with "colour"(ish) throughout and plenty of reading in it's 66 pages.
I want either...
-A Jaguar XJS, turned rat-look with a 5.3 litre small block V8 replacing the 6 litre V12, a big, crude bonnet scoop and a crappy spare tyre rack hung off the back.
-A Dooster kit car, based on a 1932 Ford, built around the drivetrain and V8 of an old Discovery... big, "narrow" wheels just like a proper 30's car but with 4 wheel drive!
-A VW Lupo sport diesel. WHAT?? Yeah well PPC says you can pump it up to 117bhp pretty easily but keep the torque and still have MPG in the sixties. Win.
