“Again?!” Ruki slammed his fists on his desk, the impact causes a few papers from his stack to scatter in the air. “Whose work was it?” He added after a few minutes.
“Both of them.” Uruha answered in a grim voice, handing Ruki a neatly clipped papers in his hands.
“Those bastards!” Ruki growled in rage and frustration.
Aoi sighed tiredly. “As if to add salt to our wounds, these bastards managed to kill their victims in public settings without even leaving a trace.”
“What’s worse was that one of them is using a fucking chainsaw,” Uruha hissed and handed Ruki a thick stack of papers. “Autopsy report for the chainsaw manic’s victims. Apparently, he loves brutal murder,” he rolled his eyes sarcastically.
“In the contrary, our other psycho loves the silent torturous death. Poison, drugs, chemicals-you name it, he used it.” Aoi added his input, his hands swiftly flipped through the other report.
“Two psychopaths, already ten victims in just two weeks…,” Ruki mumbled tiredly, rubbing his eyes slowly. “And not a single lead to them. We’re going to hell if this kept going.”
“Not to mention with the press involved. Know what they named our psychos? Chainsaw Ripper and Silent Death. Bah! They’re not helping us from keeping the citizen from panicking.”
“Might as well we resigned before our boss used us as scapegoat to be blamed; or worse, capturing innocents to cover up the force’s failure,” Uruha ruffled his own hair, feeling his exhaustion of continuous autopsy procedure he had done finally catching up on him.
“Who is going to protect the citizens then? You know that half of our force can be easily bribed. If we are not here, will there be any justice in this city afterwards?” Aoi sighed again, flopping onto a chair beside Ruki, his face was clearly exhausted.
“Maybe I should quit and become a monk…,” Ruki suddenly said with a huge yawn.
Uruha giggled. “Why monk?”
Aoi laughed too, though his laugh was tainted with his exhaustion. “I thought you love your hair.”
“Peace and serenity worth my hair,” Ruki mumbled, yawning again.
Uruha laughed at the reply. “I think this should be enough for tonigh-err...,” he glanced to the clock and sighed, “…morning. I need food and sleep or else I’d I turn into a complete zombie.”
“I just want these bastards get caught soon; then I can sleep peacefully,” Ruki grumbled again though he too had stood and tidied his messy table.
“Think we can still get to order some food at this hour?” Aoi pondered absentmindedly. “I can’t cook, you know?”
“You’ll have to survive with fast food then…,” Uruha giggled warily.
“Not that…AGAIN…,” Aoi groaned sadly.
Ruki burst out laughing at Aoi’s pathetic face, letting loose his stress all these two weeks. God, did he loved his job a lot. Being a full-time detective, and the youngest one at that was tiring. However, with this kind of colleagues, Ruki had his fun. Uruha joined him afterwards, laughing at Aoi’s pout and tried to forget the reports and investigations they had to do tomorrow. It’s way past their work hours and perhaps they could get some fun at work.
If they were not disturbed by a knock on the door at least.
Ruki stopped laughing, his brow furrowed in suspicion. It was way too late for someone to knock at the detective room’s door. Any reports beyond office hours should go straight to the front, not directly to them. He opened the door, only to be greeted with two very bright smiles for such gloomy night.
“What the hell?” Ruki cursed, shooting a strange look at the front where the officer in charge smiled sheepishly at him.
The first of the two strangers, a very tall blond young man cleared his throat to get Ruki’s attention. “Madam Red’s Bakery House delightfully at your service~!” He said all too happily and practically shoved the metal food case in his hand to Ruki’s. “Enjoy your meal~!”
Ruki’s jaw dropped. “Huh?? We didn’t order anything!!” He stated strictly to the blond young man, raising a curious eyebrow to the light cloth strip over the taller man’s nose.
Regardless his words, the man just bowed and left the stunned Ruki behind.
Ruki turned at the other one, this one with a deep dimple on his left cheek; wavy mahogany hair gracefully bounced over his shoulders. “We didn’t order anything from you!” He stated firmly to the smiling man.
Just like the weird blond man, this one also just smiled and handed Ruki yet another food case filled with what it seemed like deliciously cooked steak.
Ruki was thoroughly stunned when the dimpled man cheerfully said some kind of restaurant’s tagline before he bowed and retreated outside.
“Oooh….FOOD!” Aoi cheered as he inhaled the delicious smell emitting from the cuisine.
“I doubt that it’s ours…,” Ruki mumbled, trying to stop Aoi from attacking the food. “Unless if you had ordered something as flashy as this?”
“Nope.” Aoi shook his head, a bit disappointed. “Did you, Uru?”
“Not me,” Uruha shook his head too, a frown spread across his face.
“Ooh…Look! There’s a note!” Aoi pointed to two elegant notes on each food cases. He picked up one of them, noting the expensive heavy paper and gleaming red ink. “Dear detectives, I personally admired your hard work in solving the recent cases thus with all due respect and concern, please enjoy this meal. It’s the least I can offer you for your hard work. -C.R.” He read the note out loud.
Uruha snatched the other note and frowned. “Same message though with different handwritings and sentences here. From someone with initial S.D. Does that ring any bell?”
“Nope. Jesus, to think someone went to this extent to appreciate us? Somehow I am flattered.” Aoi smirked and rolled his eyes.
“Perhaps it’s our boss after all?” Ruki pondered, now slightly less suspicious.
“Whatever. I’m starving after all these works…,” Aoi cut his next words, clutching his growling stomach.
Needless to say, the exhausted trio officers quickly dug in and savored the delicious meal.
They totally missed the other notes though.
==============================================
It was a gloomy night. Dark and cold it was that average people would love to stay inside their houses and sleep in the warmth of their family and completely secure from the danger outside.
But he was not any average people.
He grinned almost maniacally as he shed the uniform he borrowed from the guy he stumbled at the dobby house. He had no other use of that uniform by now. Plus, it reeked of sweet scent of bakery. He despises sweets a lot. Too much sugar gave him the urge to puke. Finally stripping off the uniform, he discarded them on the nearby bin, leaving him in his original outfit. Sleek black tight pants made of a very rare material and simple shirt. His badass jacket with lots of secret compartments complimented his need to carry so many of his beloved around and completed his appearance. One glance at him and people will completely mistaken him as the boy next door who just gone through his rebellious phase.
Though, he is not the harmless boy next door, isn’t he?
He halted his steps upon seeing another figure emerged from the dark alleyways and smiled at the other.
“My, my…Isn’t it a coincidence we met here?”
The other smirked, flashing his deep dimple rather innocently. “Coincident indeed.”
“And I guess it must be another miraculous coincident too that we’re both here with aim to kill one another, dear Chainsaw Ripper, or better yet…my lovely Kai?” He smiled brighter, flashing his infamous bottle of poison.
“Oh, how I love your straightforward manner, Reita-chan~ Or what did they call you these days? Silent Death?” The dimpled man smiled too as the sound of chainsaw engine ripped through the night air.
Completely ignoring the possibility of getting discovered, both launched themselves to one another, chainsaw clashed with silver dagger with a loud sound. Reita gritted his teeth, knowing he was at a disadvantage in a head on fight. Chainsaw against dagger. Ha! A child would know which will win. Even though the alloy his dagger was made of was stronger than any material in this world, it won’t last long.
But he knew it will last long enough…
Kai laughed gleefully. Reita never changed since their training years. The other still prefer the use of poison rather than head-on damage his chainsaw could inflict. “It has been a long time isn’t it Rei-chan~?” He pulled his chainsaw away and aimed for the jacket-clad shoulder. “I’ve been missing the joy of violating your pretty lithe body~!!”
“Still the same old sadist, eh Kai?” Reita laughed, jumping back to avoid the rotating blade-god forbid he would lose to Kai this quick. “I missed you too, love~” He cooed back, jumping here and there to avoid the assaults. Hey, he was the passive part here, okay? His poisons were not as flamboyant and loud like Kai’s chainsaw.
Kai giggled almost childishly. “Why, Rei-chan~? You’re not so resisting like this back then! Why don’t you let me violate your body like I used to?” He sighed rather dramatically, finally pausing his assaults.
Reita landed expertly on a fence, the moon now started to show, illuminating his exhilarated joyful face. “You will never let me top you, eh? Why am I always the one who get violated?” He mocked a pitiful tone.
“Like you didn’t enjoy getting hurt~” Kai flashed his infamous dimpled grin.
“Well, after those people I killed, sometimes I want to hurt others too you know?” Reita returned it with a coy smirk. He looked perfectly at ease despite the cut; Kai after all, did manage to injure him.
“My, my…Now I am deeply intrigued to see your sadist side…,” Kai purred, his tongue darted out to lick the little drop of Reita’s blood on his lips.
However, it was Reita’s turn to smirk when Kai suddenly coughed up blood. “Gotcha, love~”
Kai coughed twice, his own blood dripped to the ground; though he grinned madly nevertheless. “As expected from my beloved Rei-chan~ Attacking in silent…Which one of your poison had I inhaled since the past five minutes?”
Reita smiled childishly innocent. If he could sparkle, he would definitely looked like pure saint under the Lord’s holy glow right now. “My newest invention, love. Ought to be the most powerful one too though I have not experiment it yet…” He mocked a wondering curious face.
“It is painful…You have getting much more creative~” Kai had coughed again but his posture changed to a firm crouch; it was clear he could resume his assaults soon.
“It’s too bad, eh Kai?” Reita grinned sadly, bottles of poison in both of his hands.
“Yeah. I was hoping we could be reunited as anything but enemy…,” at this, Kai shook his head, genuinely showing regret.
“But this is our fate, eh? As the best poison master trained by our beloved father, I’m obliged to be loyal to my mistress…,” Reita whispered, face slipping to a cold poker face.
“Same here, love. As the best assassin created by beloved father, I had devoted my loyalty to my master…,” Kai grinned, chainsaw moving into action again. “After all…”
“That is our belief…,” Reita resumed Kai’s words, face still a cold poker face though his eyes raged with emotions.
“Sorry love…”
“But I have to kill you…”
And they both launched for the last battle. They were aware of their audiences. After all, they had intended to end this at the middle of a city street. They knew that behind those thick walls of the buildings, the citizens were listening to them, too scared to move to alert the police. But, neither of them had cared. Kai kept assaulting Reita, getting even faster for each movements despite the burning pain of the poison he inhaled. Reita on the other hand move agilely around Kai, trying to avoid the worst damage Kai could inflicted on him regardless the constant slash he got from the chainsaw. They both were in pain, almost dying as blood splattered all over the street. Reita’s left arm was heavily severed by this point, his broken dagger could no longer delay Kai’s chainsaw assaults. Kai kept coughing out blood, the poison had spread throughout his whole body, wrecking his system altogether, leaving his skin pale bluish in colour.
They finally stopped, noting each other’s condition with a gleeful unison laugh.
“You look horrible, Kai…,” Reita mused, still laughing.
“Like you to talk,” Kai retorted back, childishly sticking out his poison-blackened tongue.
Reita smirked weakly. “I guess this it, eh?”
Kai smiled back, dimple barely shown on his cheek. “Shall we part with a passionate kiss, love?”
Reita didn’t answer but stared at Kai longingly, which Kai returned with the same loving gaze.
“No? Then, a thousand good bye my beloved Reita~!” Kai chuckled softly.
Reita giggled weakly. “Good bye, Kai my love~”
That was when one of the citizen dared herself to peek outside, only to scream upon the sight.
For there in the middle of the street, two tall figures were twistedly bound to each other. One had a chainsaw through his body, his innards spilled on the ground as the rotating blade slowly died. The other, though had no physical wounds like the blonde had but the brunette had obviously suffered internal injuries. Blood leaking out from every single pores he had, bathing their united bodies with deep crimson fluid. However, the poor woman’s last straw was not the gruesome dead bodies, but the fact that they had one hand around each other before they fell dead, lips locked in one last eternal kiss.
It saddened the poor woman frail heart as she knew that whoever these insane young men were, they were deeply in love with each other.
She fainted right on the spot as her husband finally got the guts to alert the police.
Though, if they had dared to approach the dead bodies, they would notice the smiles on the dead faces.
The purest happy peaceful smile one could’ve ever seen.

Ruki never liked to receive a wakeup call.
Moreover if it was about his works, or hearing that somebody had died and he couldn’t do anything to stop it.
But Aoi’s call this morning had him in full action so early in the morning.
“The cases had ended. Both culprits are dead. We only have to arrest the mastermind to officially close these cases.”
Aoi had said that and hung up with no further explanation.
Which that made Ruki really annoyed. Thus, he didn’t knock Aoi’s door upon arriving at the station but he just threw the door open and opened his mouth to demand for explanation. But, he was silenced when Aoi solemnly thrust two expensive papers towards him. Ruki frowned as he read the writings on the papers. Confusion turned to horror. The writings were very different but the words were the same for each note. His gaze wandered at the bottom of the paper, only to recognize the same initials he read last night.
Ruki looked up at Aoi. “Could it be that this initials are…”
Uruha nodded grimly. “C.R for Chainsaw Ripper.”
Aoi sighed. “S.D. for Silent Death.”
Stunned, Ruki looked back at the notes, horror spread on his face. “They planned their own SUICIDE??!”
=========================================
Dear detectives,
I’m going to be honest here. I’m the one who is responsible for at least half of the murders that had been burdening your mind for the past two weeks. I have no motives at all. I’m just fulfilling my owner’s desire for power. To eliminate those who had threatened him, you know? If you’re interested, I left the data and evidences you need to convict them together with this note. Whatever. I don’t care anymore. I had received a hard task and I assure you it will be the last trouble I caused you. I’m going to hell, thus rest assured, dear respected detectives, your citizens are safe from me after this.
This may be asking too much, but please do bury us together, will you?
Yours truly…
THE END
