Bombs Bursting In Air

We all have beliefs. We all have ideals that we believe are worth dying for, worth killing for. Centuries ago, Pope Urban II paved his road to Hell with his sermons concerning the evil infidels in Palestine. He said that killing these people with different beliefs would buy a person his ticket to Heaven. In reality, these actions only succeeded in opening the gates of Hell even wider. Today, a man named Bush stands in the place of Urban II. He gives idiotic speeches about how the only way to spread freedom to the world is through the death of other people with other beliefs. Never mind the fact that he mispronounced many words in his harangues, the public still ate it up. As one, the people of this country gave a great shout. They yelled and bellowed, saying that true patriots were the ones who approved of the killing. The truth is that we did need to go to war. It was a necessary evil in response to an action taken against us. However, the war should not have escalated to something beyond the response. The only ones we needed to weed out and punish were the ones who attacked us. The alternative would have been dreadful if we had let them go without bringing their fight to them. We would appear weak, and more attacks would have surely followed. However, this was self-defense, and although it appeared wrong, it was the right decision. But then this idiot we voted into office escalated the matter by sticking his nose where it did not belong. Granted, the events in Iraq were dreadful. Scratch that, dreadful is too good a word for the horrendous crimes that went on there. However, even in light of this, attacking that country was not the right choice. Yes, evil men ruled that nation, and murders and rapes were a regular occurrence, but, as cold as this may sound, they were not our problem. Our problems were the ones who threatened peace on a global scale. However, we still went in and removed the head of that other country. Still, after our dear leader declared "mission accomplished," more people continue to die. The last time this country got itself into a quagmire, the people rose up against the government. Granted, their shouts for peace can be seen as annoying, but it was still a shout. Through their drug-induced haze, those men and women saw the horrors of the war, and they fought in their own way against it. Today, we are more concerned with the politics of entertainment. "What hot movies are coming out?" "Who is Angelina fucking now?" "Are Paris Hilton's legs still open wider than the doors of her daddy's hotels?" These are the questions on our minds. We do not care for the people dying in that far off land. So, I present this question to the American people: If you truly do not care, then why did we attack that other country? We all seemed to care a hell of a lot when it was the "patriotic" thing to do, but now we are more concerned with our own affairs. Ladies and gentlemen, shit has hit the fan and this country is dying like those brave men and women in Iraq. We are to blame for this hell we are creating, not some deity. This is not some plan from a higher being. These are the results of our own actions. The beliefs that this country was founded on are fading. We have religious fanatics fighting against the rights of other people. We have fools blaming the entertainment industry for the deaths of our children. We have a self-righteous ass in office abusing his power to force his beliefs upon us instead of working to bring us all together. We are turning against each other as a result. There is only one hope, and it does not lie in a divine being. We have a choice to either continue ignoring the importance of the world around us or to stand together and fight for what we believe in. To push forward and try to better ourselves and each other. We live in a time when true role-models are few. We are so concerned with ourselves that we have gone so far as to push our beliefs aside. So, once again we stand before the black abyss of anger and selfishness. Unfortunately, this time we do not have a person with the strength to stand before us and guide us through.
