Hey everyone.
I'm new to Death Note and was wondering if L has a christian/given name?
I know his surname Lawliet, but what does L stand for? Because N, is truncated for Near so I'm hoping it would be similar for L.
Any help greatly appreciated. :D

There was a joke a while back that his parents must have been hippies or something to just name their kid one letter. XD

I was surfing the web but couldn't find anything. Apparently the creators of the L looked in the dictionary for adjectives that could described L and found listless et al.
GOD I love Death Note. :D

And L switched it from a girlie Elle to "L"
OR.... *going futher out on limb*... He couldn't remember his first name because he was just a child when he became an orphan with no family? and he just that it started with "L"?

As I said, I'm new to Death Note...and I am doing research for a story I am writing on FF. I'd rather know all I can about a character before I write about them. :D
As I stated, it could have been the same as N, for Near.

Yeah I knew all of that. I've just finished the anime yesterday and I'm moving onto the manga now, then I'll move onto the novel. I thought the comics and novel may have revealed more info.
For me, the day I think I know everything will be the day I stop learning. So...I don't feel too bad about asking questions it helps me learn more. Too much info is better than too little.
Thanks for the info.
Have a great weekend.
