The shelter did end up taking the cats from the Meriden hoarder. It wasn't fifty, it was sixty-seven. I don't know if anyone here can picture that many cats, so let's just say it's a shitload. It turns out that the house they were taken from wasn't a house either, but a two-bedroom apartment.

let me show you it, also into cats

But I LOVE black cats! :O

Also, I just got a paycheck, so I'm going to see about transferring money to a family member who can paypal it to you. I feel awful about these poor animals, and I wish I were closer so I could donate time and pettings as well as money.

Speaking of donations, have you guys tried staking out at school open houses and football games and the like? Just having a booth and bringing a well-mannered kitten or two might raise up a ton of awareness (especially since most schools require a certain amount of community service hours... >.>)

Everyone's probably far too busy right now, but in the future, it might help, even a little.

You should come adopt some of our black ones then! Most of them are very sweet. :) And thank you so much for the donation. We really do appreciate it.

We just had our baby goats at a fair at school this past week, and people absolutely loved it. My friend and I are going to look into setting up a table during lunches at school to collect spare change and hand out information about the shelter.

That's an A+ idea. Often times it's so much easier to just clean out pocket change than to actually donate time and "real" money. Our school fundraises like that all the time.

Baaabyyy goooaaaaatsss *melts* My boyfriends mom has goats and they're adooooorable.

(Believe me, if I could, I'd be all over those cats!)

People tend to get less stingy if you ask them for a few quarters instead of a commitment. And a few quarters help more than you'd think, considering wet food for one cat for one day is only $.38.

Goats are awesome animals. We have two Oberhasli/Norwegian Dwarf crosses that are only three months old. They're just the sweetest little things.

Dude, why aren't we friends? *adds you*

Anyway, yes, goats are one of those things where you don't expect them to be cute at all, but then you start scritching them and they just become the best animals ever.

This is a good question. *adds you back*

And they win you more awesome points than a dog or a cat, because people would never expect you to have a goat for a pet.

Mary Jane also has geese, but they beat her up for taking their babies, so I avoid them. Geese are mean.
