[RL with Vanessa - hungreeee )8]

True to his word, as Blackout was with surprising frequency for a Decepticon, he stayed in one spot while he waited for the worldhopper to bring Vanessa Buckingham to him. He'd managed to stumble his way into the nearest human habitation since finding himself organic once again this morning--which had been the reason he'd looked so drawn, talking ( Read more... )

The park was certainly preferable to some of the other options available to him, most of which involved voluntarily placing himself in close proximity with humans. He'd take dirt and an excess of non-sentient organic matter over the town proper and the fleshlings that lived there any day.

He glanced over as she joined him on the bench, nodding once and straightening up out of his slouch. "Affirmative," he said; it wasn't quite a mutter.

His (red) eyes went wide--for a moment, at least, until he managed to get his unruly face under control. "Again, you prove perceptive," he said, nodding once more and reaching for the sandwich.

Stomach grumbling audibly, he couldn't help but be grateful that he had some experience with being human. It meant he didn't make a fool of himself as he tore into the sandwich, only recollections of eating too fast and having it come back up in the most disgusting way possible keeping him from devouring it. He couldn't help being hungry, though; he'd been human since he'd come online this morning, with nothing to eat, little to drink, and the walk into this town to sap what little in the way of fuel reserves his body'd been provided with.

Swallowing, he waved one hand and said, "This is fine. Preferable. Like it out here."

His eyes darted from her to the napkins on his leg to hear again, but for the moment he was far too engrossed in his food to do more than nod once more and hitch them closer.

He certainly appreciated that she didn't seem too bothered by him, though, truth be told, he hadn't had that many face-to-face interactions with humans since...well, since the last time he'd been human. Certainly not with any he hadn't proceeded to terminate. This was...aberrant.

Of course, being trapped in this ridiculous body at all was aberrant, and still very much the center of his attention. He paused, setting the sandwich aside to take a long drink from the bottle of water and wonder why he felt like he should be saying something.

He couldn't repress an indignant sputter, jerking away from the unexpected physical contact before her words sunk in. Then he just felt stupid. "Nn... Thank you," he muttered, looking away and rubbing the spot awkwardly for a moment.

Of course, her next words brought his attention right back, riveted it on her, in fact. "What about him?" he asked guardedly.

Hey, he was still very evil, thank you very much. Just...impotent to do anything about it, at that point. Of the transformed Cybertronians, he was, perhaps, the most aware of just how tenuous a hold these bodies had on their sparks, and he didn't want to risk his by pissing anybody off.

"He's..." He had to pause for a moment, gathering his thoughts and translating them into English. "He's magnificent. Powerful and passionate, strong, ruthless, unflinching. He is awe-inspiring. And he demands nothing but the best from his troops. If we fail him, we pay the price, whatever the price of that particular failure may be."

He shrugged, took a bite out of his sandwich. When he'd swallowed, he added, "Should I ever fail him so greatly, I will deserve to be terminated."

Her sudden reorientation made him jump again, flinching as she plopped herself down; she could probably feel how tense he was under her, like he expected... He didn't know what he expected. He was simply paranoid, as any Decepticon was, and perhaps in greater measure right now than usual.

"Unfortunately, we are fighting a war," he murmured, looking down at her. "Failure cannot be tolerated; mere disappointment is too little a deterrent."

He settled back against the bench and sighed. "He wouldn't terminate me without reason. I am a valuable tool in his hand. But if I truly deserved it...." He trailed off, and shrugged again.

Enough to bang his spine against the back of the bench, making him hiss between his teeth in some combination of alarm and discomfort. He hunched his shoulders, tucking his jaw against his collarbone, and glowered at her. He was starting to get the feeling she was doing this on purpose.

"No," he muttered. "I suppose you could say we started it. They always opposed my Lord Megatron and his plans for Cybertron, even before, when he was the Lord High Protector."

He didn't. Blackout had never bothered to make a study of the nuances of human expression, not even after being stuck as one for a while. He was oblivious.

He smirked faintly, the expression far from pleasant. "I imagine there are very few who would label me and mine 'good guys'. Our modus operandi is rarely well-received."
