Aww, they're so domesticated! I love that they've developed this routine and they've become so accustomed to being in one another's living space.
He stops throwing them away and starts sticking them to random spots on the fridge so that soon it’s covered with fluorescent post-its in various shades that flutter whenever the door’s opened or closed.
I love this! And it's something I could totally see Annie doing. I like to think she started coming up with completely random messages after she ran out of greetings. :-)
“I guess I’ll call and cancel the bouncy castle,” she sighs loudly.
Jeff arches an eyebrow. “That better be sarcasm.”
“Oh. You still want the bouncy castle?” She grins.
LOL That was awesome.
Annie/Abed bonding time! And poor Annie being Abed's lab rat. Though I laughed at the idea of Abed jotting down Annie's emotional reactions to that movie. And that is a tear-jerker.
The pair on the couch jerk awake, blinking in surprise.
And Jeff. Jeff, Jeff, Jeff.
“Oh sorry. Did I wake you?” He asks, in a less than apologetic voice, striding toward the kitchen.
You're not obvious. AT ALL. lol
He thinks abut hanging out at the bar with her the other night, the way she leaned into him as she laughed, the careless way she’d curl her hand around his arm, the warm press of her body against his when they fell in the pool, and he thought -
Fuck, he doesn’t know what he thought.
That one hit me in the gut. I do feel for him here. The longer he and Annie live together, the closer his emotions are to the surface. And these little insights into his psyche, this look at his vulnerable side is very compelling.
I'm really enjoying the evolution of Jeff's character in this piece. He's become comfortable with having Annie in his daily life, and being in her orbit every day is having a profound effect on him. And I love all the moments between them - the birthday cake especially. While the scenes are so understated, the tension is not. It's a very slow build, and I'm loving every minute of it.
I think I've run out of different ways to say how much I love this fic. And if you ever need more encouragement to write, I will most happily oblige. ;-)
