Bruised Ego
I sure do know how to bruise a guy's ego. But hey, I really, really didn't mean to do that! Moments ago, I was looking through some samples of baju kurung in a magazine. When I got to the guys' section, I began scrutinizing it for possible colours and designs that my brothers could get. I chanced upon one super nice olive green baju kurung and the following conversation ensued.
Me: Ma! Tengok ni...cantik kan baju ni! Olive green...*further scrutinizes model's body and cutting of the baju kurung* Eh, ni boleh belikan untuk shahmi... *hands magazine over to mom* Tengok ni...cutting dia fit untuk badan shahmi...
Mom: Mana... *looks at magazine* eh, boleh lah... cantik jugak
Me: *frowns while still studying the photo* Ni kalau khairul pakai...confirm tak kena lah ma... dia kan buncit... cutting baju ni terlalu kecil untuk dia.
I seriously didn't give that conversation any thought thereafter. Well, that is, until after my mom related what I said to the elder brother! She even showed him the magazine and the design that I had pointed out earlier.
Him: Oi! Ye lah! Ye lah! *irritated voice* Orang tahu lah buncit... Orang sedar lah, tak payah nak cakap! *defensive tone* Tapi dah puasa, dah kurus apa!
Then five minutes after he uttered that comment, he left his room with the magazine.
Him: Nah, amik balik magazine ni... Sapa cakap baju kat dalam magazine ni tak fit. Yang merah tu cantik apa *flips to page to point out said outfit* Itu kan boleh fit. *thrusts magazine and walks back to his room*
Lol! He must've spent that 5 minutes super scrutinizing the tops in his bid to look for something that fits him and prove that I'm wrong! Hahahah! Touchy, touchy. Have I stepped on a raw nerve there dear bro?
Gosh. This isn't the only time I bruised a guy's ego lor. I've actually done it unwittingly quite a few times. I still remembered there's this once when remarked to someone about his built and oh man was he pissed!
BUT me being me, instead of feeling all guilty and remorseful when I see their reactions to my remarks, I was actually darn amused!
So anyway, I guess I should keep my mouth shut when it comes to talking about a guy's physique from now on. Well... Heh, unless it's to say something good about it.
