His Anger; His Light

Do you know that out of all the surah or chapters you see in the Quran, Chapter 9 (The Repentance) is the only one that does not begin with a "Bismillah"?

This fact had actually left me curious for a while. I told myself to ask my uztaz about this the next time I see him. Then last Saturday, I finally had the chance to do so.

According to him, the verses from the chapter came at a time when Allah was really furious with the Kafirs who lied and cheated. Therefore, the fact that the chapter started without the verse "Bismillah" is actually a gesture to show that He no longer had any mercy for them and was being firm with them.

Pretty interesting fact right?

I've also recently been re-reading Chapter 24 (The Light) and Chapter 30 (The Roman Empire). I don't know why but there's something about these two chapters that have gotten me hooked. It's something that even I can't explain myself but yes, I'm drawn to these two chapters.

Before I go, let me share a verse from Chapter 24 that I find utterly meaningful.

Allah is the Light of the Heavens and the Earth.
The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp:
The Lamp enclosed in Glass:
the glass as it were a brilliant star:
lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the East nor of the West,
whose oil is well-nigh luminous,
though fire scarce touched it:
Light upon Light!
Allah does guide whom He will to His Light:
Allah does set forth Parables for men:
And Allah does know all things
(24:35)
