Yesterday I took a step in a new direction. If someone told me that I was going to go to an Anime Convention, I never would have believed them and yet yesterday, I went to one. AND IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. My brother's friend took all of the pictures of the cosplayers since his camera was infinitely better than mine. I also plan on taking pictures of the things I bought but that'll come later since I'm way too lazy to get them~
First of all, the Anime Convention I went to was called Anime North 2011. I went with my brother, and his friends and we got there around half an hour after it opened to get our badges to enter. My brother and I pre-registered in January so we didn't have to wait as long as his friends had to because they didn't pre-register and had to newly register. They gave us two books: One was a program of Anime North 2011, and the other was called a Survival Guide for Anime North 2011 xD The program had a REALLY cute cover and it was all bright and pretty :)
After we all got our badges, we went inside the centre where part of the convention was being held (because the convention was taking place in 3 places: 2 hotels and 1 convention centre). In the main part of the convention (which was in the convention centre), there was the "Dealer's Room" and the "Artist Alley". Those were the most packed of course, as people want to buy merchandise and art of their favourite series. I know I did, as I ended up buying 1 doll of Zero from Vampire Knight and 1 doll of Kaname from Vampire Knight as well. Zero's doll happened to be bigger because the place I went to first only had small Kanames so I went to another booth and they had Zero! I think I favor Zero over Kaname more, but only by 1-2% SO I SWEAR IT WASN'T INTENTIONAL THAT ZERO'S DOLL IS BIGGER! xD
We walked around some more and went to the two hotels where the other parts of the convention were being held but not much there caught our eyes since we missed most of the good stuff due to use spending the morning in the Dealer's Room. Next year my brother and I are definitely planning better so we get to see everything we wanted. There was however, both a maid cafe and a butler cafe going on! I was going to check it out, but my brother said no and I weeped a bit~ Well, it's not like I could go to the butler cafe anyways since it was at night and we had already left by then because we had nothing else to do. And there were panels and screenings of various animes and movies which was cool, but nothing was on that I wanted to watch BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY ON IN THE MORNING! T_T
Eventually, we made our way back to the main convention centre and wandered up and down the aisles of the Artist Alley. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE?! AND WHY ARE CHIBI'S SO CUTE?! I had to pry myself away from buying every chibi-fied version of my favourite characters although I did cave on super adorable chibi-drawings of Mami from Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica and Rin from Ao no Exorcist♥♥ It was the best 4 dollars I spent :3
But the best part of the convention HAD to be the cosplayers. There were so many good outfits and I flipped when I saw someone dressed as my favourite characters. I saw Misaki from Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, Amu from Shugo Chara, Sakura from both Tsubasa and Cardcaptors, Digimon Season 1 Characters, tons of Pokemon, gym leaders, & Ash, and so many others I can't even remember right now. The most popular series cosplayed yesterday however were Kuroshitsuji, Vocaloid, and Stocking & Panty. I have never seen more Grells, Ciels (especially when him dressed as a girl), and Mikus in my life! It was pretty awesome.
And I was SO blown away by all the amazing outfits that I am inspired to cosplay next year if I still like anime by then. I haven't decided yet (or even if I actually plan on carrying it out) but if I do, I want to do one of the Puella Magis from Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica or Mio/Tsumugi from K-ON! I really love the clothes from those series, so we'll see what happens~
*sigh* I was really excited about going to this convention, so I'm glad I did although I was embarrassed at first and I hope I still like Anime & Manga so I can keep attending! :D
