Cohdopian Notes #7

Jun 10, 2010 17:52

It's that time again, time for another installment of the Cohdopian Embassy Newsletter: Cohdopian Notes.

I'm pleased to announce that the Cohdopia Cares prison program has gone well so far--though there was one minor injury. I am already planning the next stage. As always, feel free to leave me any input you might have, critical or otherwise!

I thought of something exciting to post about today. One of the things I'm asked about most often is my job as ambassador. The dictionary definition of ambassador is: "a diplomatic official of the highest rank, sent by one sovereign or state to another as its resident representative". How true that is, and what a wonderful honor it has been for me to serve as ambassador to this great country, but I don't feel those words give enough of a sense of the reality of my job.

To illustrate what my life as an ambassador is like, I took notes throughout the course of one ordinary day, so my readers could see just what it is an ambassador does. I chose yesterday, because I didn't have anything out of the ordinary planned for the day, and fortunately, it did turn out to be quite an ordinary day.

--5:30 AM: Wake up, shower, dress, and prepare for the day ahead
--6:00 AM: Enjoy a breakfast of paanjøtte (a traditional Cohdopian dish made of egg and potato).
--6:15 AM: While eating, check e-mail in case anything important arrived overnight.
--6:16 AM: Read e-mail from the Ambassador of Zheng Fa, concerning the Borginian Ambassador.
--6:22 AM: Reply to said e-mail.
--6:30 AM: Finish breakfast and meet with staff to discuss plans for the day.
--6:45 AM: Discussion breaks out about the garden wall and whether it should be taken down or have a door added.
--7:00 AM: Attempt to mediate discussion.
--7:15 AM: Discussion becomes heated, so I call for an end to the morning meeting.
--7:30 AM: I'm sure there's something I was supposed to be doing.
--7:33 AM: Wander down to the gift shop before it opens at 8.
--7:40 AM: Inspect new shipment of butterfly handkerchiefs.
--7:45 AM: There are a lot of things to look through in the gift shop!
--8:13 AM: Staff appears to remind me about a meeting that was supposed to start at 8.
--8:15 AM: Begin meeting.
--8:30 AM: Oh no, not more about the wall.
--8:45 AM: People seem to have very strong feelings about the garden wall.
--9:00 AM: I call an end to the meeting, since it isn't going very well.
--9:15 AM: Talk via Skype with other ambassadors and officials about trade agreements.
--10:00 AM: Receive e-mail from the Borginian Ambassador, regarding the Ambassador of Zheng Fa.
--10:05 AM: Reply to said e-mail.
--10:15 AM: An e-mail from the Ambassador of Zheng Fa appears in my inbox, but I decide to read it later.
--10:18 AM: Time for a snack of savory kraldiin.
--10:30 AM: Dictate correspondence.
--10:45 AM: Check on pipe organ repair estimate.
--11:00 AM: Call Interpol regarding printing press.
--11:15 AM: Get involved in friendly discussion regarding the Interpol agent's family.
--11:25 AM: Still not sure when printing press will be returned.
--11:30 AM: Polish Primidux Statue.
--11:45 AM: Work on script for theatrical production to be performed at the embassy.
--12:15 PM: Time for lunch at the Cohdopian Café! Discuss menu items with the chef.
--1:15 PM: More trade agreement talk on Skype.
--2:00 PM: Time for the afternoon meeting.
--2:15 PM: Not the wall again...
--3:00 PM: I'm getting a bit tired of hearing about that wall. Call an end to the afternoon meeting.
--3:15 PM: The orphans from the orphanage I donated the sports equipment to come by for a visit!
--3:20 PM: Conduct a personal tour. Very fun.
--4:00 PM: Distribute free samples to orphans.
--4:30 PM: I should have read the e-mail from the Ambassador of Zheng Fa sooner, because it seems conflict has broken out between her and the Borginian Ambassador. Oh, not again.
--4:45 PM: Mediate discussion between the Ambassador of Zheng Fa and the Borginian Ambassador on Skype.
--5:45 PM: Finally get them to calm down, wish I had time for a nap.
--6:00 PM: Time for the evening meeting.
--6:15 PM: I am so tired of hearing about that wall that I decide to have it torn down.
--6:16 PM: End of the meeting!
--6:20 PM: Dictate more correspondence.
--7:00 PM: Enjoy a dinner of ambarrken, a traditional Cohdopian stew.
--8:00 PM: Slight emergency involving whitcrystal oil in one of the offices.
--8:15 PM: Emergency dealt with.
--8:25 PM: Work on theatrical script some more.
--9:00 PM: Nightly call from Danaus on Skype.
--11:00 PM: Time for bed!

I hope that was helpful and informative! Now it's time for our new internet coupon. This one was inspired by a suggestion from my dear friend Mr. Armando.

Enjoy!

Sincerely Yours,
Ambassador Colias Palaeno
