Adding to the adventure

A quiet sleepy day yesterday. Georgie and Steve were gifted the loan of a hundred or so DVDs. They were very happy sitting watching them on the huge TV. Bridget got on with some sewing and I, well. I felt a bit like a spare part actually. Dunno why really. Could be that my brain still hasn't got used to not running about chasing rabbits out of places they have no business to be. Or coaxing Tess out into the snow to pee. Maybe my brain misses being on the alert to the cat trying to carry out her ongoing plot to murder the dog? Or riding shotgun over the thermostat, coz people will insist on cranking it up to 25...
Georgie is now fully bribeable with Ho Ho's. In fact. To tell the truth. She'd sell her Grandma for a bag of Cheetos...but then, that's rather a relief as we've been trying to settle on a price to get rid of Grandma for years now.
Last night, Bridget and I went out to meet a friend of hers. We met at a Sushi place. All very glamorous for a girl from Stafford, what 'oh? Trouble is, despite the obvious freshness of the sushi. The pretty way it was presented and the merge of flavour and texture being almost spot on. I didn't like it. Not much, at any rate. The service was also very odd. The poor waitress seemed to actually resent her customers being there. She hung back in the distance or worse, she spoke so quickly that i understood nothing she said. Mind you, that could have just been down to me and my rather slow ears. No, all in all. She wasn't a terribly good waitress. I suspect she believes she's destined for greatness. I wish her good luck on that and hope for her sake she doesn't get the chance to hone her waitress face.
We left very soon after eating when Bridget told us about the frozen yogurt place. Ice cream is always a friend indeed in any situation and we consoled ourselves in the Baileys flavour.
It was a happy ending to a sticky experience.
Just before we headed home we visited a couple of shops. Cookware enthusiasts shops to be exact. Now, I'm always very comfortable scouring such places for interesting frippery and cupboard fillers. Although after years of experience, you just have to say. Move away from the salad spinners. Buy one and you'll curse yourself. Have one bought for you and it will be the bane of your life for many years, because of the guilt of chucking out a gift, you'll spend years shifting it and its parts out of your way as you look for the icecream maker, or the breadmaker or the waffle iron ...the cappuccino machine...the donut...
