A three year old walks to the edge of the world
She frowns as she looks down into a muddle of gray
Pushing her pink glasses up her tiny nose
Blonde strands of scraggly hair falling behind the ovals of glass
Obfuscating the mysterious panorama in front of her
Behind her, a little boy waits holding out a hand
As a yellow lily bends in the breeze tickling her leg
Rushes of blood circulate her petite body
Nervous, she looks back in his soft blue eyes
She shuts her fragile hands into fierce fists
Occluding her heart, her pink dress flies against the wind
And she jumps from the edge, her weight becomes nothing
Falling softly, down a colorless shaft
She hits paved asphalt and scrapes her knee
Blinking behind the ovals of glass, she pushes blonde stands back
Nervous, she looks behind her in his soft blue eyes
As she palpates the spot on her knee covered in dirt and blood
She realizes she hasn't moved at all
Her fingers pluck the yellow lily from beside her leg
Bringing it up to her tiny nose, she smells it and smiles
Places it softly in the little boy's hand, closing his fingers after
She walks away
