Having all but fled Freyja, Ada is hurrying down the hall, trying to find Tom. She is glad of something to do, even if she does not want to have to tell Tom about Richard. It's something to take her mind off how confused Freyja has made her. At least the situation with Richard would be resolved soon-- the one with Freyja made no sense at all.

Tom is actually still asleep. He was up all night worrying about Richard, not knowing if he memory was restored or where he was.

When she comes to his room, Ada knocks and waits. She'll wait until she's asked in, however long that may be.

Tom eventually opens the door, yawning and rubbing his eyes. "Hmm?"

[dearcousin]

"Oh! Forgive me, Tom, I hope I did not wake you."

[notallworthy]

"No, it's all right. I needed to wake up."

[dearcousin]

"May I come in? I-- I have something to tell you."

[notallworthy]

He starts tucking his shirt into his breeches and trying to smooth down his hair. "Of course, Ada."

[dearcousin]

"Thank you. I do hope I am not bothering you, but I thought you should know right away, and-- oh, forgive me, I do not know how to do these things." She takes a deep breath. "I shall be direct about it."

"What... What has... Come and sit down." He steers her to a chair next to the fireplace.

[dearcousin]

"Oh, thank you. It's just-- oh, Tom, Richard is dead!" And Ada, at last, starts to cry.

"He... He... Oh Ada..." He moves forward to hug her, also crying.

[dearcousin]

She holds on tight. "B-but he'll be back."

[notallworthy]

"I know. It happened last time too." He feels oddly calm about the whole thing. He is still terribly upset but he doesn't feel like he is going to break this time.

[dearcousin]

"He told me about it, but--"

[notallworthy]

"But what?"

[dearcousin]

"He said he would not do it again, but then there was a lady who said that he wished to die, for-- for her."
