JULY 2004
Johnny's Jr.
Kamenashi KazuyaTo everyone in Tonisen,
Great job on "SAY YOU KIDS." I'm grateful for everything that happened in Osaka. It was really fun getting to talk to you. Please invite me out in Tokyo too. I'd like to start gradually becoming an adult from now on, so please continue to give me advice.
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"Where's Wally." These are all I used to read. It was fun searching for him. I read most of the series. But if I couldn't find him it was really frustrating... (lol).Johnny's Jr.
Kazama ShunsukeTo Ninomiya Kazunari-san,
The other day we talked about it on the phone, but about going out to eat...Is that really going to happen (lol)! We always end the conversation saying "let's go!" but next time let's make it happen for real. You've changed your mail address again so I can only call you, so the next time you change your phone number, will you please let me know (lol)? I'll be waiting to hear from you! It's June, isn't it. 6 plus 1 is 7, isn't it (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"Naita Aka Oni" [The Red Monster that Cried]. The sad ending to that one is pretty good. Also, the one where the area around some houses built in the countryside was gradually built up into cities and life became difficult, so they had to move, that one left an impression on me. Sorry, I forgot the title.KinKi Kids
Domoto TsuyoshiTo all of the fans,
My new maxi single "WAVER" comes out on June 9th, so please buy it. The contents of the limited edition and regular edition are slightly different, so if you can, please buy both (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
Picture books...I can't remember any at all~. I probably didn't read all that much, right? I was a pretty dull kid (lol).Johnny's Jr.
Tanaka KokiTo Yassan (Yasuda Shota),
You still haven't made good on your promise to go out to eat with me, so come up here to Tokyo (lol)! You can stay at my house, so let's go out to eat. You definately have to stay at my house, alright! (lol)
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
The book that I received from a picture book author on about my 8th birthday which had me as the main character. It was probably made for me at my mom's request, but I was really happy to receive it. I got to be the main character, and the story was all about me. I was really surprised.V6
Morita GoTo Inocchi (Inohara Yoshihiko),
You returned the "24" DVD box set I lent to you with a note attached, didn't you. "To Morita-kun. I'm sorry for keeping these for so long. To show my appreciation, please look at Disc 7." When I opened it up, there was a totally different DVD inside. ...He pulls stuff like that, that ass (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
I think they might have read them to us during nap time in kindergarten, but I don't really remember. But at my grandad's house there were reference books about rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles, I liked those. I forget the name, but there was a flesh-colored, goldish stag beetle in one of the books, and that really had an impact on me!TOKIO
Joshima ShigeruTo Yamapi (Yamashita Tomohisa),
"Kibou ~Yell~" is really awesome, Yamapi. When it was played on my radio show "Joshima Shigeru's TOKIO CLUB", which I do every week at 21:30, I found myself humming along without realizing. Will you sing it at karaoke with me? That was the first time in a while I felt like I'd learned something new. It was second only to "AMBITIOUS JAPAN!"
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
I'm sure I read picture books when I was a kid, but I can't remember anymore. I can't even remember what I ate today (lol).Arashi
Sakurai ShoTo (Kokubun) Taichi-kun,
This is going back a little ways, but your solo performance during TOKIO's concert was really cool. I want to know more about that synth, so I said I wanted to visit your house sometime, but I'm giving up. Just give me one (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"Guri and Gura." I loved the story and pictures in that book. I had them all the way up through "Karuta." KinKi Kids
Domoto KoichiTo MA (Musical Academy),
I'm really greatful to MA for everything at my solo concert. It seems that you all continue to be busy even though the solo concert has ended, but let's go out to eat if you have some free time. Let's eat some good meat and get sick to our stomachs again (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
There was one called "Red Monster Blue Monster" right? That one. I don't really remember the story, but monsters [oni] aren't things people from the past made up. As a kid, I thought they must have seen foreigners and thought they were monsters. It's amazing that I thought about stuff like that as a kid. Arashi
Ohno SatoshiTo Matsu-nii (Matsuoka Masahiro),
Great job on the play. When I think about the rehearsals, it makes me smile somehow. Thank you for taking me out to eat so many times. Next time I'll...no, please treat me (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"The Big Turnip" (Ookii na Kabu). A lot of people get together to pull out the turnip. Then there's this picture of everyone working together to pull out the turnip. In the end they're able to pull it out using that strength, and that's the part that left an impression on me.V6
Inohara YoshihikoTo Kamenashi (Kazuya)-kun and Akanishi (Jin)-kun,
That night in Osaka was really fun. You guys are a bunch of idoits~. Idoits. How nice~ to be an idiot (lol). I thought both of you were real and honest. Someday, please share some of your strength and good looks with me. Let's hang out in Tokyo sometime too.
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
The book "Guri to Gura [Guri and Gura]." When they were making the sponge cake, the picture really looked delicious. I was thinking there must have been lots of butter in it.NEWS
Katou ShigeakiTo (Imai) Tsubasa-kun,
I read your page this month! I'm really into "Ski Jump Pairs" too (lol). Next time we meet we should definately talk all about it. If you don't mind, let's make a "Tsubasa and Shigeaki Pair" and go ski jumping together (lol). I really want to make this a reality, so everyone else has to cheer it on too (lol).[1]
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"The Three Little Pigs." That's a good story, isn't it. Reading that makes me feel like I understand what it means to treasure something more than your own life (lol).Johnny's Jr.
Hasegawa JunTo the following people,
To Uekusa (Katsuhide)-san. When can I get that necktie (lol)? You promised to give it to me by my school entrance ceremony, but you still haven't given it to me yet, huh? The entrance ceremony is over, but I think I'll have some other opportunity to wear a suit, so I'm still waiting for the day you give it to me.
To (Domoto) Tsuyoshi-kun. Next time please let me participate in the Mini 4WD race too. I'm always thinking about how I want to play when I have breaks during the drama filming. Did you buy a course (lol)?
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
I didn't read them at all. Maybe "The Lone Wolf"? Or does that even exist (lol). The story with the wolf-man or something. That, or maybe "Snow White." Johnny's Jr.
Ohkura TadayoshiTo Nakamura (Yuuichi),
I love you. I really adore your nose (lol). I have never seen such a handsome nose. I'm glad we were able to become friends through Dream Boy. I'd like to be able to work with you again.
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"The Three Little Wolves" no, it's "The Three Little Pigs" (lol). Why did it leave an impression on me? After reading about those 3 adorable piggies, how could you forget them? (lol) NEWS
Masuda TakahisaTo (Domoto) Tsuyoshi-kun,
We're really grateful for everything from when we were on "Domoto Kyoudai." I wasn't able to talk much, but it was really fun. I'd like to be able to be good at speaking like you are, Tsuyoshi-kun. Next time please give me some advice! I'd really appreciate it.
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
I don't really remember reading picture books when I was little. What I mean is, I'm sure I read them, but I don't there's any one in particular that I loved. I guess I just remember average things like "Cinderella." Tackey & Tsubasa
Takizawa HideakiTo Nagase (Tomoya)-kun,
I read your message from last month. This is my honest reaction.
I am Takki.
Yeah, I know (lol).
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
I don't really have many memories about reading picture books, I think I liked "Norimono no Hon" (The Book of Rides) and looked at that a lot. I think I liked the fire truck the best.~Arashi
Aiba MasakiTo Yama-chan (Yamada Hisashi-san),
Lately our schedules haven't really matched up and we haven't been able to go out to eat much. If you could talk to me about it in advance, I'd be really glad. I think it'd be a little difficult to work things out on the day of. Even just one day in advance is fine, so please get in touch with me!
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"Ikkyuu-san." I can still remember the "Don't cross the bridge" scene somehow. My grandma got it for me, and I remember reading it a lot by myself when I was in kindergarten.V6
Okada JunichiTo everyone in NEWS,
You all are trying your hardest to cheer on the volleyball team, aren't you. When we debuted we were cheering on the volleyball team too, so while thinking about my own memories I watched over you guys with nostalgia at the sauna on location at Kyoto. I think it's really special to be able to watch people playing [volleyball] with all their might. Please have fun cheering them on.
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
In this one story where a green monster and a boy go off on a journey, the boy's name was "Junichi." Apparently my mom ordered it for me that way. I felt a lot of empathy for that boy and treasured the book as I read it.Johnny's Jr.
Murakami ShingoTo the following people,
To Tottsu. You can talk a little bit now, can't you. It's fun watching your smile and the way you move. Please continue to be energetic as if you never get tired.
To (Akanishi) Jin. It's been a long time since I've seen you... It was fun.
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
The chiropracter I've been going to for a long time has a picture book out. It's called "The Elephant's Bag." I think I got it from that chiropracter when I was in about 4th grade. It was the first time I got a picture book from an adult other than my parents or relatives so I have strong memories of it. But I wasn't the type of kid to read picture books much, so I don't remember the plot at all, but I really remember the title.Johnny's Jr.
Shibutani SubaruTo Avril Lavine-san,
I'm a huge fan. I bought five copies of your new album. Just kidding (lol). One time we were on M-Sta at the same time and I thought you looked like a cute girl, and since there was a interpreter I thought we could talk but...Next time you're in Japan, please stay at my house (lol). If you come to my house, you'll be able to eat lean chicken breast every day. Recently my mom decided that I need to build up my muscles, so she makes lean chicken breast every day. I'm sure you can eat it with salad or something, but usually we end up just frying it (lol). Let's get pumped up together!
What's a picture book that you read in your childhood that left an impression on you?
"Urashima Tarou." At my house we had a lot of picture books of old stories, and my mom read them for me a lot. Out of all of them, the pictures in "Urashima Tarou" scared me the most so I loved it.

1 - Ski Jump Pairs. It's basically an online game, not an actual sport.
