Far be it from me to attempt to derail any charitable campaign at all. But I want to explain the reason I've been stomping my boot about this zika auction.
You know, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is all because of the Olympics and the ridiculous publicity this issue got. Brazil's firefighter and cops not being paid isn't affecting the US, so eh. But oh my god, their snot bug is coming over.
Seriously! We have SO MANY healthcare-related problems that are much, much more significant than this zika nonsense. Third world countries also have their own host of much, much more significant problems. The fandom campaign does give links to international charities! Only it's all buried somewhere in the middle, with no explanation of what each charity does for the issue or why the issue is so important in what country. Other than the US. Because it's coming for you with its blood-thirsty red eyes. Hide yo hypothetical baby. The whole focus is how it can harm YOU and how it's a threat to YOU. That silly disease is really not that big of a deal, and I'd be totally okay if the campaign acknowledged that and went on to ask for assistance in countries seriously harmed by it, maybe economically. Which, I'm not sure if any are, but give me figures. Tell me who's suffering from this zombie plague besides the American hypothetical babies, which are at a much greater risk from the anti-vaxxers and people not getting prenatal care.
I like how neither one of us is sure, despite this campaign, whether this is a significant issue in other countries.
