Until Norman turned the corner into aisle 14 of ShopMart, where both buffalo sauce and chunky style dill relish were laying in wait. Only he wasn't in ShopMart anymore and would not be finding the condiments for his summer grill-fest so easily in the Nexus. Rows of ketchup and mustard were replaced by doors and portals of all kinds. The bustling grocery store and all of its patrons were gone, swapped for a haunting emptiness within the once chaotically busy multiversal weigh-station.
Norm stood owl-eyed, grip tightening on his half-full cart of groceries. He locked onto Ellie, who surprised him with her familiar face.
