Mikoto is irritated as she walks into the main part of the Nexus. Not that it's too easy to tell... the outfit she's currently wearing hides her tail, so the way the fur has fluffed can't be seen ( Read more... )

I would help then and try to get a doctor to see to them.
Does this young man have glasses, or any scars? I can't see from where I am.

(ooc: is that Harry Potter?)

"I have some ability with white magic, or he would already be dead," says Mikoto, a little more grouchily than she intended. She's still trying to justify to herself why she even bothered, other than she can sense magic and is curious.

"I found no glasses, but given the state of his clothing they may be lost. He has an odd tattoo on his left arm, a skull with a snake in its mouth. I noticed no scars, but some of the injuries he had on arrival would have been severe enough to leave them if I hadn't healed them."

((No, but you're within the right multiverse-set! Wrong chara, though. And not an OC either, as a hint.))

So there's someone to help him already, namely you. That's good.

Anything notable about him?

((ooc: I'm at a loss now.))

Mikoto bristles slightly at that. She isn't interested in altruism, and has already been mentally justifying her earlier reactions by relating it to her research.

"He is a male human between sixteen and twenty years of age. Caucasian, black hair. He is from a universe that uses some form of magic. There is the tattoo I mentioned, on his left forearm, of a skull with a serpent in its mouth. He arrived here severely injured and soaking wet. The water was extremely cold, which is why I removed what remained of his clothing after healing the injuries. What remains of the garments seem to have been tailor made, and there are signs that he is not someone used to manual labor, so I suspect he came from a wealthy family. He was also reacting as if he had been exposed to some sort of poison or toxin, but casting Esuna negated the effects."

"It is not a decent amount of information for an identification, but I decided it was still a possibility someone from his reality might be here."

That's... not an easy subject for me... I was born to House Jorasco... a sort of extended family which runs my world's Healing Guild... sort of a cartel, you might say. I... although technically I haven't taken the oath yet, I am more or less bound to withhold any healing-related services from anyone who does not pay the guild the set price for those services... That's part of why I gave up learning the practice of medicine and have focused more on research...

Mikoto nods in response. "That is unusual. In most realities, healers are bound by oath to give aid, not to withhold it."

"In this case, he would have died if I had done so. While that would not concern me, I have been studying the different uses of magic and technology in the multiverse and I could tell that he is from a universe that uses a kind of magic I am not yet familiar with. He would be of no use to my studies dead."

Yes, Mikoto, keep telling yourself you came up with that whole bit of logic in the half-second you had to make a decision.
