If you do not wish to be asked a question in turn, you should not ask it of others to begin with.
Parroting is common, but it is good to wish to offer something more. Do you not believe that others truly care how you are doing? Or is it too difficult for you to examine yourself and give an honest answer?

So, you cannot answer the question "how are you?" because do not know how to form a satisfactory response. (Let us leave aside my intent just now - if I did not care, I would not ask.) Are you able to perform a systems analysis? Do you understand the query "how are you?" to require a different answer than data illustrating that you are functioning on a satisfactory level?
I believe it may require more than just asserting that my servers are in good working order and my uncertainty on that issue is why I cannot say that I am 'well'.|
