Ichi strolls in, a jolly hop in his bow-legged walk as he almost seems to dance into the nexus. His cane is tucked under one arm, and in his hands he carefully clutches a beat-up, three stringed instrument called a shamisen. He grins ear to ear as he finds a nice, vacant spot on the floor, leaning his back against a couch as he turns the ( Read more... )

The voice that answers is deep, very slightly metallic, and coming from overhead.

"Bugging the slag out of my older sister."

Ichi laughs and gives the strings a few plucks.

"Always an entertaining past time. Brothers and sisters are good for that." He ducks his head, smiling. "Any special tricks you like to pull on them?"

"Teasing her about her boyfriend's good. So's trying to jam her sensors with static or white noise." There's a slight movement, a scraping and the creak of the ground/floor beneath a great weight. "She always gets me back, but that's part of the fun."

He quirks an ear at the sound, noting that the weight it would require to make the floor creak is substantial.

"As long as it's fun, and passes the time. Ever been on a trip where pestering each other wasn't an option?"

Ichi hears a set of approaching footsteps and smiles up a the sound, his eyes closed as he continues to strum away. The sound of the man's voice though, rings familiar in its quality, he's met many people who are able to hear as well as he sees, which is to say, not at all.

"It's a shamisen. I just got it today. I've always wanted my own." He smiles, keeping his face pointed towards the voice. "Being well-traveled is never a bad thing, I think. I'm always going somewhere."

"Once you're on the motorway, you can play car cricket," Will says. That's what James and I do. Let's see -- what else is there? The Yes No game. Who can make an iced lolly last the longest, though we might have grown up too much for that one now." He grins. "Hello again."

Ichi's listening, and entertained at all the strange terms, but he gets the idea at least. It takes him a second to place the voice, but Ichi usually takes his time to make sure he doesn't get the name wrong.

"Will!" Ichi stops playing and smiles broadly at him. "Hah, so far it seems brothers and sisters are the best cure for the long road."

"I don't know," Will says, coming over to join Zatoichi. "A long car journey with James is all right. Steve, Robin, Paul, they'd be all right too. But stuck in a car with Mary and Barb? I'd rather walk." He's eyeing the shamisen curiously. "That's not a lute, is it? Your instrument, I mean."

"When I was younger I traveled with a group of people like myself, and it felt like traveling with family. Sometimes, we got along, sometimes we fought, but the trip was always shorter with them around, for good or bad."

"Ah, it's a shamisen." He smiles and nods, picking it up and holding it out to Will. "Want to give it a try?"

"Mess with the driver's head? No, no, be the driver. Makes any trip interesting." J's voice is a much higher pitch, which might be something to do with him being LOLed much younger today.

The voice is unfamiliar to Ichi in its much younger form, so he tilts his head to the side a bit as he listens.

"Ah, but I don't think anyone would want me driving anything." He chuckles lowly.

"Mm... blast brilliant music from the stereos and sing along? Dunno that I'd like messing with a funny looking guitar for a long time."

"Stereos?" Ichi looks lost for a moment before it passes and he's cheery again.

"Heh, I enjoy my shamisen. Usually I only have myself to sing to, but now I can play along as well. I like it."

"I think I'm wit'chu," the blonde grins, gesturing to the instrument. "Though, I'd much ratha' play it as loud an' badly as possible an' annoy ev'ryone 'round me. Dat, or gamblin'. Or..." she hums, pressing a finger to her lips as she thinks. "Oh yeah, puttin' tagetha' supplies an' stuff."

She laughs. "S'long as I ain't on duty, 'course."

Though he doesn't see the gesture, he gets the context quickly with her reply and nods.

"Don't worry, I play it good and loud when I'm earning tips." He smiles and ducks his head shyly. "But gambling, you're a lady of interesting tastes. Good tastes, I love gambling, but interesting."

"Only a lady when th' situation calls fer it," she snickers, taking a few steps closer to Ichi. Her skirts swish around her feet as she walks, making her squeak when they get tangled and she trips. "Ack! Stupid clothes-thingies... anyway, yeah, gamblin'. S'gotten me in trouble more times den I cin count," she laughs. "Don't care if I win or lose, jus' so long as th' game's fun. But 'course, can't make a livin' on losin', cin ya?"

"I'm more familiar with the nature of gambling than you'd like to know!" He lets out a hearty laugh. "It's caused me my share of troubles, but then again, I'm very good at some games, and I can earn more in one night, than I make in a month, if I get a good run going."
