The short, dark-haired boy had claimed a high-backed armchair that dwarfed him, no matter that he was tall for his apparent age. He seemed fairly comfortable in it, however. He was smiling at the passersby, with a contagious grin that never quite left his face, no matter how strange these strangers were. He looked pretty much like the average ( Read more... )

"Tarot readings," Li replies from behind a cup of tea. He's settled on a couch, somewhat admiring the aesthetics of this smallish boy settled in that huge chair. Well, he doesn't really think of Eriol as a boy, more like a small man - it's just something about his manner that says he's much, much older than the teenager is.

"Apart from the normal things people answer, I mean, like reading."

The idea of tarot seems to spark amusement in Eriol's eyes. "I have been known to indulge in a bit of fortunetelling," he admits, grossly simplifying things so much that it might as well be a lie. "Though I've often found a good book more rewarding."

"What kinds of things do you read?" You can tell a lot about someone based on what they read, after all. If Eriol reads mostly non-fiction that makes him stuffy and boring, but if he likes comedy or something that totally means...

... that he'll be able to tolerate someone like Li. Basically.

"A hard question!" Eriol answers brightly. "I would say 'anything,' but I've never been particularly interested in, for example, car repair manuals. Fiction, nonfiction, poetry, plays... The world is a very large place, and larger when one considers the world of text."

"Preferably elsewhere." Clef isn't happy to be here, nope.

Eriol leans forward, cheerfully assessing the slightly smaller man. He waves a hand. "It seems like a nice place to visit. At least, there are plenty of interesting people to meet."

"It would be," he replies, looking around as though illustrating his point. Really, he was rather torn between the desire to be home and being fascinated with all there was to find here. "But coming here when I did, however I did so, was very poorly timed and I really should be getting back."

"I hope you have luck finding your way back, then," he answers, looking slightly concerned for Clef's sake. "Though if you have a moment, of course, there are other chairs, and perhaps time enough for conversation. What is the world you come from?"

"Write computer code and spend time with my boyfriend."

"Unfortunately, I have neither a computer nor a boyfriend," he answers, still smiling, "though those both seem like good ideas for you."

"Deepiki geebibeep!" She likes to make things!

...Wait, this bipedal human-sized bug is speaking on some weird beepi-speak and somehow everyone can still understand her. Huh. That's the Nexus for ya.

"Keedi, beegikigibeep." Candy, specifically.

"Cooking is a favorite of mine as well," he answers the bug-creature, seeming not particularly bothered by her strange appearance.

"Blow #$... stuff... up." Mornbein scowls at the pewter coloured giant robot she's sitting on the shoulder of.

He just sort of laughs. "I think I would soon run out of 'stuff.' Is there such a necessity where you come from?"

"I don't come from anywhere, and I got the whole Multiverse ta run in." She bangs one bare heel back against the robot's shoulder and looks down at the boy with one eye slightly narrowed as she tries to figure him out with senses that aren't human.

His eyes widen a little in disbelief. "Everyone comes from somewhere," he offers, but doesn't seem as though he intends to pursue it. "But don't you have hobbies other than destruction?"

What would she see with those inhuman senses? Depends on her powers, really. He's making no attempt to hide his immense magical power, but if that's not her thing, maybe she'd be able to tell something unusual about his soul or aura-- he's a reincarnated being, and his past self had lived for centuries before reincarnating into this small boy and another magic-less man.
