He examines the rose thoughtfully. "I don't have anything to put it in," He finally replies distractedly, still pondering where in the world his friends have gone off to. "But, you are welcome to have it..."
"This place is weird. They might be here somewhere but I don't know my way around yet."
She lifts an eyebrow and takes the rose. "I'll fix this."
Suddenly the rose twitches, and the stem lengthens, growing thready roots as the drooping leaves straighten. It wiggles, then hops out of her hand and starts wandering around on rootlet feet, looking for a place to root itself.
"What's a Meowth anyway? It sounds like a cat with a cold."
Well that was a somewhat freaky occurrence! Seeing his rose wander off as if it were a grass-type Pokemon--bizarre. He recoils back a half-step, but the comes to the conclusion that it is no more dangerous than his Victreebel. In fact, as he watches it a bit more, compared to his beloved Victreebel, it is seems positively benign.
James then registers that she has asked him a question.
"Meowth? He's a Pokemon. A Scratch Cat Pokemon, but he doesn't act much like a Pokemon."
Plant is in denim gardening overalls and a pink shirt, and was taking her Oddish out for a walk. "I have no done so," she says, "but if you are telling me what they look like, and I see them later, then I can be telling them that you are looking for them?"
Rafaela, near one of Plant's legs, just watches. Plant pats the Oddish on the leaves with one of the two thorny vines that seem to be growing out of her lower back.
"Well, Jessie is well dressed and stylish, with long hair and blue eyes. Ah...and Meowth is a talking Meowth. He's hard to miss."
The sight of the Oddish makes him relax a bit, despite everything else. Even if a small part of his brain idly considers stealing it, while common sense suggests this would be a poor choice on his part.
Plant nods at that. The word Meowth sounds familiar, but it still takes her a moment to place it. "A Meowth pokemon? Are you being from the same world as those?"
"Yes, Meowth is a Pokemon." James nods, enthused. He's a bit puzzled by the talk of same world but lets it pass.
Forgetting his brief flight of Pokemon-stealing fancy, he stoops to smile at the Oddish. He has a soft spot for grass types and poison types. "Hello, there!"
A young woman in a forties-era nurse's uniform pauses, concerned. Sounds like the poor man is a little lost. "No, I haven't... well, not Meowth. A meowth is a kind of pokemon, isn't it? What does Jessie look like?"
James remembers that he is carrying a picture of the three of them together. He cheerfully hands it over to the young woman. "That's Jess, and that's Meowth there."
Sarah looks at the photograph and smiles. It's pretty obvious who is Jess and who is Meowth without James pointing it out. "Oh, she's pretty. Is she your girlfriend?" She looks apologetic. "I haven't seen her, but I'll keep an eye out. Did you come here with them?"
"Girlfriend?! Jessie? Ah--no, no, Jess is my partner---we work together." James explains hastily.
"Well, you see we were sent blasting off again and this time we went in different directions. It is all because of that blasted electric rat--but anyway, I'm trying to find them because--well, I need to make sure they're okay. We're a team after all."
"Talks..." Swindle says, "I take that to mean in more than just the 'meow meowth' my Velvet uses. And no, I've seen neither. I just arrived at this part of the Nexus."
Though he's not sure if this is a different part of the Nexus he's used to, or a totally different one that happens to act the same.

"She's gonna die if you don't give her water." Mild annoyance in her tone, but she figures she'll give the guy a chance.

"Oddish," says Rafaela softly, perhaps a hello.

This Swindle tilts his head at James' question. "I've not seen a Jesse, but I have a Meowth. Her name's Velvet."

Which, after a moment doesn't seem any more strange than traveling with a talking Pokemon.
"Ah, yes, well this is a very specific Meowth---he, ah, talks. And Jessie is my partner. She has a uniform like mine."
