This is not the nexus I thought it was

"Nope, nope, that's not supposed to be there. Could have sworn that second portal was on the left, not the right. And - oh hells bells! Where the hell did this lake come from? This wasn't here before ( Read more... )

"Sorry I can't be much 'elp, I don't come around 'ere much anymore meself. Keep meaning too, though. Um. Guess you couldn't text the friend and ask 'em for more specific PINpoint coordinates?" Thorn smiles weakly up at her, although it's not nearly as far up as it once was. He seems to have, since he first came to live with her, gained a few inches in height.

And she's looking at him, wondering just how young he was when he came to live with her, because being so short as she is, things like a few inches can be really noticeable.

"I'm just getting out of the house finally." As he can tell, of course. But still she has to say it. It's like compulsion. "And truthfully? I don't know if this person even has a PINpoint. It never came up in conversation."

The change has been a gradual one, but he has claimed to be over twenty-one from the very beginning. Certainly he looks younger than that, and perhaps due to the blisters and scabs he shows no signs of growing facial hair any time soon.

"I should do that more. 'S mostly the 'ouse and school." He spends more time in the garden or the woods surrounding the house than he does inside of it, but it's still the St. Germaine property. "Guess not everybody uses 'em. 'M sorry I can't be more 'elp Miss Leela."

"We all should, Thorn. Get out of the house and explore. The nexus doesn't seem near as bad as it used to be."

"Nope, and like me, today? Wanted to go the long way around and see if I could still do it. And ah, for the record?" She lowers her voice, embarrassed. "I've been lost for nearly three hours. It was fun exploring but yea, still lost. So I'm glad you came by when you did. Which portal'll take me home again?"

"...Three hours?" Thorn has, in fact, been lost for days before, but that was due to an LOL. "Ye want a portal or a PINpoint? I've got mine on me, but I can find ye a gate easy, too." Thorn has always had a talent for finding gates, which is precisely how he came to the Nexus in the first place.

"Three hours so far. The day's just starting, you know?"

"A gate would be good, because after the meeting I'll just come back and do some more exploring. After all, I don't have any plans for the night."

"You're not lost now, 'cos I know where ye are." Thorn grins, just a little shyly. "If I take ye to one, will ye be able to find your way back later? Ye can allus send me a message to come get ye..."

"Thorn, you're wonderful!" She nods enthusiastically. "I have a good handle on this area, so if you lead me to the portal home I, yea I'll be able to get back no problem." She might sound a little more confident than she is, but she's optimistic and that's what counts.

"Ye can still send me a message, if... um. Well if ye need to." With a humble little duck of his head, he leads her to the nearest portal home, hoping he hasn't offended her. The portal is not as close as it could be, but hopefully distinctive enough, since she lacks his homing sense.

"Promise, if I can't make it back by dinner, I'll call and you and Tom can come rescue me. Or better yet, get Courtney!" Insulted? Who's insulted? Leela is having a good time, and not moping around the house for the first time in AGES. The fact that Thorn cares enough to offer only serves to make her appreciate him more.

"Lead on, McDuff!"

Thorn blushes and mumbles slightly as they go, "Um... 'S 'lay on, MacDuff, actually. Um. And then they fight. And 'e dies." Thorn finds Shakespeare easier to read, in some ways, than more modern works. The phrasing and terminology is more familiar.

"We'll keep things warm for ye? Won't let ye stay lost for long." The earlier correction is tempered by a sweet smile. Were it not for the blisters, he would have an angelic face.
