It's not been a fun week-plus since Jono was really last in the Nexus. Something that shows in the way he holds himself as he walks into the Nexus. His face is set into an angry frown as he stalks into the questioning area

"Something drastic," Jack answers seriously. 'Drastic' in this sense of the word, no doubt, means violent. Supremely violent. Ha pauses. "I've not seen him, but I'm looking for him. He's done some serious damage around here. Your friend going to be all right?"
Jono does a double-take again, though for a different reason. It takes a moment to realize that, no, this isn't Jackson.
At the question, though, he shakes his head. "Dunno yet," he admits. "All the stuff what was done t' 'im is old. Decades old. Wormed through 'is childhood an' mos' of 'is time in the Nexus. Festered an' drove 'im a bit mad." Jono takes a breath, though his chest doesn't really move with it. "Had t' go in an' erase it all. Wasn' much left I could save, but was the only way t' save 'is sanity. So now's a waitin' game."
He answers the double-take with raised eyebrows that suggest a little amused 'oh, hello!' Completely oblivious, yes.
"Decades?" Adam was here a few weeks ago, so that doesn't quite match up with what Jack is thinking, but this is the Nexus and stranger things have certainly happened. "Well, either way, that sounds terrible," he offers apologetically. "I've been trying to help one of my alternates sort out someone who Adam messed with, but this sounds extensive and well beyond our area of expertise."
"Think there might've been a hiccup in the Nexus," Jono admits after a moment. Something that is borne out a moment later when a possibly familiar golden head pushes out from under his jacket.
Siouxsie is helo, apparently.
He sighs, reaching up to give her a scritch. "Yeah. Beyond me own, too, I guess. Sorta keep thinkin' that if I knew more, might've been able t' save somethin' more. But it was all so corrupted." And it's obvious from his face that it pains Jono one hell of a lot, not being able to do more.
Oh, hi, Siouxsie. Jack grins a little at the reptile. But, given the serious implications of the conversation, Jack is quick to school his grin back under control.
"Hey," he states. "I think just keeping him sane is feat enough and more than what he'd have if you hadn't helped. Sometimes there's only so much a person can do." Jack pauses, then takes a step closer to lower his voice. "Look. If Adam did this, he's not exactly the sort of guy you can kick around. He's an alien. This is how he exists, putting himself in people's memories. It can scramble things up."
Jono gives a small shake of his head. "Gimme a bit lon'er, until 'e's started gettin' 'is feet back unner 'im an' I'll maybe start figurin' the cure ain't worse 'an the disease was."
He knows the madness was worse. He does. But he can't stop seeing black vine and weed-choked buildings being razed to the ground in his mind, knowing how much went with them.
Jono nods, glancing around. "'E's scared of me, I think." No bravado. Nothing false. "Met 'im once already, when I firs' got back, 'fore I saw me mate again." He shakes his head. "Bloke touched me, sir. Felt 'im tryin' to intrude an' had to pull back out. Didn' know what 'e was then. Would've given 'im whatfer right then an' there if I had."
Jack nods, impressed mostly by the lack of bravado Jono shows in the honest admission. "He did this to me and my friends once. We managed to figure out what happened and take care of him, but we had to suppress the memories of the time he was with us. We thought that effectively took care of him, but maybe not. He's not likely to be the Adam Smith from our universe, but if he's here in the Nexus it's an all you can eat buffet for a thing like him." That is to say, in Jack's opinion, you can't retcon the whole Nexus, so there's really no getting rid of Adam altogether.
"Now 'at we know what's happenin', least we can tell people t' watch out." He hadn't thought of that. He didn't LIKE the idea of him being able to do this to anybody in the Nexus, but if they had warning, at least it might be easier to keep people away. Or they would at least know what they were getting into. "Roight now, jus' wanna make sure 'e stays away from Jackson."
Oddly, that doesn't even strike Jack as being his name anymore, so there's a surprising lack of red flags in his head. He just nods again, completely understanding. "Warning people would be good. I'm trying to come up with some preventative measures to keep him out of unsuspecting heads in the future. Want me to keep you updated?"
Jono nods, not realizing he's not really going to be in the Nexus much longer. "Either me or me youn'er self." Or maybe he has a clue. "Though you might wanna tell 'im why. I'm a telepath, so might be able t' 'elp? Youn'er self ain't experienced as I am, but 'e's got the power t' back it up an' better sense 'an 'e thinks." Took a long time for Jono to accept that about himself.
Oh, Jack. Little do you know!
