Animalol

There is a small tree in the Nexus, with toy animals under it. Take one, they're free!

There are also a fox and a wolf sleeping underneath.

Taking one will turn your character into the animal that best fits their personality/appearance/whatever, until Christmas or whenever the mun gets bored.

Spike approaches the tree, arching a brow at the fox and the wolf. They're rather bigger than the usual sort. And they look a bit... familiar somehow.

He approaches warily, tilting his head, and examines the little toy animals beneath. A kitten, a puppy, a tiger, a crocodile, a gryphon, a thing with two heads and rather too many limbs... a giraffe, a camel, and assorted others. A nursery menegerie.

"Dru will love this!" Spike exclaims cheerfully, and reaches down to snaffle one of the little toys.

"Nice, aren't they?" says the fox, with a vulpine grin.

Spike arches a brow, pausing just as his fingertips brush the fuzzy ear of a stripey creature, and gives the fox a look. He flicks a glance from the talking fox to the cunningly laid out and enticing pile of little toys.

"...Yeh. ...Nice. ...Happen to see who put 'em here, did you?"

He wavers -he really wants that toy!- between greed and being given pause by the presence of the speaking fox. As clearly, that indicates something is Up.

"I think it's just one of those things," says the fox.

There is a shimmer in the world, and Mr. Croup is standing there. "Why?"

Spike's eyes brighten and his face lights up upon seeing Mr. Cee! He bounces, like a little boy upon seeing a favourite homicidal uncle.

"Mr. Cee! ...And then, is that...?"

Spike indicates the wolf, with a tilt of his head. "Never know you could do that! That's bloody brilliant. Well, I was going to take one- or possibly all- of 'em for Dru, but... I was a bit reluctant just in case it was some sort a' trap. You know- cunningly laid out bait 'n all."

"Oh, it probably is. But that's half the fun, isn't it?"

Spike tilts his head and thinks this over, then smirks and nods. Keeping his blue eyes fixed on Mr. Cee's dark ones, a little dare of a grin on his face, Spike reaches over and very deliberately snaffles that tempting little toy that's caught his eye.

He swiftly straightens up and leaps to the side as if expecting some sort of net to fall. When nothing happens- yet- he straightens up and grins, tossing the little animal up and catching it neatly in the palm of his hand.

"Well that wasn't so bad-"

...And he's suddenly finding himself looking _up_ at Mr. Cee. Which is a bit disconcerting as the ginger-haired bloke isn't exactly what you'd call 'tall'. Or 'svelte'- but that's a different story.

Spike whips his head around in confusion, nearly stumbling over his oversized paws. ...Paws?

He feels the ruff on the back of his neck raise up and he glowers up with blue eyes at Mr. Cee, uttering an indignant little squawk-yowl.

"!!"

"Ah. So that's what it does. Interesting."

Croup changes back into a fox. "Well, it can't do it to us. We're already animals. The fear of what comes out at night is where we began."

Spike glowers at Mr. Cee in his vulpine-incarnation. He bares little white fangs, and makes a series of growly yowls that might be swearing in Bengalese.

He grabs the little stuffed tiger and worries it til stuffing flies about, then gets distracted by his own tail for a moment.

At last he flops on the snow, chin on his paws and looks balefully over at the fox.

"At least it gave you a useful shape. Big predator, fits you rather well."

Spike thinks this over for a moment, tilting his head. He almost is inclined to agree, when he notes his relative size versus the sleeping Mr. Vee's. He narrows his blue eyes and switches his tail back and forth impatiently.

He looks pointedly at Mr. Vee, and then stamps his front feet into the snow, as if to say, "Big? He's bigger than me. And what the hell is that about!"

[ooc: he's a tiger _cub_ ;>]

"Well, you're going to be one. And you are a cub, aren't you?"

Spike opens his mouth and makes a growly squeak, then wrinkles his nose and crosses his eyes, with effort. If Mr. Cee can do it... when he speaks again, it's in a yeowly, raspy voice, but if Mr. Cee is versed in Bengalese, it's intelligible. If not, it sounds like a series of indignant cheeps, growls and yeowls and 'worraworraworra's.

"But I don't want to be stuck in this bloody form til I'm proper tiger sized. That'll take years! I haven't got- well okay, I have, but- Angelus'll be pissed right off! And who's going to clean the litter pan!

...Is it THAT bloody obvious I'm a 'cub'? I think your bloody toy's not working properly."

"It's not ours, we just found it."

They've had all the time in the world to learn animal languages.
