[Q & A]

I am Joe's psychotic fugue state.Tyler Durden, or some incarnation of him, is in the Nexus and dressed like a high end rent boy. This is not new, or surprising in the least. That being said, etcetera, rent boy in this case denotes a pair of snug red leather pants, a wildly furry black overcoat, a white wife beater, and a variety of bulky rings on ( Read more... )

Guillame really wishes he hadn't heard that question. In fact, he's just going to stand there, quietly horrorstricken just thinking about losing Certain Persons.
Eventually, he says.
"When I previously lost what was most important to me, there was nothing to be done about the cause. Those responsible were in hell; I was not. I grieved, but moved on."

"No. Fuck the past," he says firmly, waving a hand dismissively. "Don't dodge the question. Now is what's going on. Right here-" he jabs a finger into the center of the palm of his opposite hand, "-right now. What if you lost that thing, right now?"

Guillame speaks quietly. "Particularly hypothetically, since you could not... in all likelihood, I would not survive the experience." A slight pause before the next part, because Killing Is Wrong. But that would be assuming he was thinking like a real person at that point. "And you would not, either."

"Not survive physically, mentally? Or both?" he asked, to clarify.

Hank stood in a shadow, the details of his form only just apparent. He is inclined to do this a great deal.

"Mm. I would haunt you for a very long time if you murdered my son. Or woman."

"So for the rest of my entire life - you'd stalk me, but not do anything else. Is that what you're saying?" he asked, with raised eyebrows.

"I'd do a little more than simply stalk you, I think. My goal would be to drive you to suicide. Then, I would move on."

Lawrence does take his time. Perched on a nearby bar stool, dressed like a far less pricey rent boy and dangling one beat-up leather hooker boot to rebound off the stool's spokes, he considers the question. Klunk ... klunk ... klunk ... klunk. Money-green eyes narrowed, his scraggly brown hair hanging over them as he thinks.

"I'd kill you," he answers finally, that much with certainty. "Then... I don't know for sure. I can say now, when I'm calm and rational, that I'd move on, I'd keep living because dying wouldn't bring them back. But that wouldn't mean shit if it actually happened, y'know? I'd have to go through it to know for sure."

Tyler stared at Lawrence's bouncing foot, his eyes moving between man and boot as he waited. His shifting gaze and the steady curl of smoke stemming from the end of his cigarette were the only sources of movement around him.

"Stop." He commanded, as he suddenly snapped to life to hold up a hand - palm facing towards Lawrence. There was something not quite right about the way he moved, or talked. "There. You'd kill me. End of story. If you aren't sure about the rest, then don't bother."

Light watches Tyler rather closely, letting him smoke for a short while before answering. "I'd catch you and have you tried for murder. Once you were convicted and sentenced, I could move on with my life."

"Confidence is a virtue," he said, calmly, "or, it can end up fucking you up the ass. What if I walked? Would you let that go?"

"You wouldn't walk." He smiled, looking a little shy as saying this so boldly. "I'm pretty good with those things, actually, and if you'd hurt anyone I cared about, I'd take it extremely seriously." He shrugged, staring at Tyler's feet for a few moments, then back up to Tylar's face. "If you still ended up walking...I don't know what I'd do, honestly. I'd have a difficult time accepting that."

"Too late," Abernathy replies. He seems amused by the whole question. "I've done a great enough job of destroying anything that's important to me. I'm proactive like that."

"Then you've already taken the steps necessary," he said, approvingly, breathing smoke.

"Good for you."

"What, is that supposed to be a compliment?" Troy chuckles and decides to light a cigar himself. Smoking is infectious. "Was it supposed to make me happy, taking away the thing that made me happy?" He levels his eyes at Tyler, waiting for the logic train on this one.

"No," He said easily, meeting Troy's gaze. "This isn't about happiness, or whatever picture of it someone else might have ingrained into your head."

"This," he said, words coming through smoke, "is enlightenment."
