Another day, another timeflood victim

Oh dear, Small Child in the Nexus at six o'clock. At least this one isn't unnerved by all the oddness, and is just sitting on one of the sofas.

She does look slightly unsettled by something, though. Her fingers keep running through a bit of her hair, and she's giving it a worried look ( Read more... )

"I don't think so." Enzan ran a hand through his hair. "Mine used to be white."

No small amount of staring is going on when she hears that.

"White? H-how did...How did you DO that?" And a small part of her is wondering if she can duplicate it.

"I dyed it that way. He had to grin at that. "I had to get it cut short, though, so it grew out black."

"..." Now this? This is information that requires some careful thought put into it before application.

"...Sir, do you think that would be okay for a lady to do? Dye it, I mean?" She's trying to figure out whether or not that falls inside the limits of polite corporate society.

"Do you think you would feel more comfortable that way?" He was still smiling, but it was gentler now. "I think it would be okay. My mother used to dye her hair, and even if I didn't know her very well, I know that she was a lady."

"Well...Maybe? I don't think it would be so different looking, if I did." She sits up a bit straighter when she hears the next bit.

"I know that mine was too...Although I don't remember if she had to do anything like that. But it's good, that you're mother was a proper lady too, I mean." Nodding to back up that statement is happening now.

"Well, my mother dyed hers white too." He looked sheepish. "That's why I dyed mine, sort of. But I know she did it because she was proud of who she was, regardless of her hair color."

Enzan tilted his head and studied the red hair. "Yours is a beautiful color as it is, but even if you dyed it, it would still be pretty, as long as it's your decision. You should define what makes you who you are, you know?"

"O-oh...Thank you." It's actually nice that her feet don't reach the floor from where she's sitting. Gives her an excuse to look at them as she idly kicks one, then the other.

"I guess that I don't know which would be better. It just feels...Kind of weird to not know many other people who have hair like mine." Although this Nexus visit is starting to change that, and very quickly.

"...She sounds like she was very nice. I'd like to be like her, and my mother."

"Yeah? I think I was the only one I knew with white hair after my mom died." He settled cross-legged on the ground; it was easier to talk that way. "What was your mom like?"

"Really nice, and calm. She always had time for me, and I don't think that anything ever made her upset." And gods only knows, one young Kirijo certainly tested that last trait to the limits.

"At least, that's what I remember about her."

"She sounds like someone I would have liked. I think you've got a really good shot at being like her some day." He smiled again. "I bet she would like you even if you couldn't be exactly like her."
