Favourite Beatles song? Why?

Or, if that doesn't turn your crank, then if you were stuck on a desert island, what three albums would you bring? (Don't be a dink and argue about 'how would I play it, hurr, hurr?')

Greatest Hits: The Roads Less Travelled, This Is Where I Came In and Blue.

If I could take just one extra song, not on any of those albums--Woman of Mass Distraction.

Nice stuff. Why those ones?

(And, yes, for all you can say about the BeeGees, the title track from 'This is Where I Came In' is spectacular.)

There are a few songs spread out over them that I'll never get tired of. I don't think very hard about music most of the time, honestly, but there are songs I could listen to for days.

Good to know. I was wondering if people would pick albums that they can listen to over and over or if they'd choose more sentimental things.

"Run For Your Life". I like the... sentiment. Or maybe "Helter Skelter"

Thematic. Not 'Happiness is a Warm Gun'?

Guns are soooo... impersonal. I'm all about the touchy-feely.

I'm quite happy avoiding both options, but I suppose to each his own.

What'll you take to your desert island?

"The Long and Winding Road"! Of course, "Let It Be" is a classic, too.

Why those ones? Lyrics? Sentiment? Catchy tune?

Nostalgia, mostly. I don't really know much by the Beatles, but those two were big parts of my childhood.

As for albums... hm. Stevie's Wonder's I Was Made to Love Her, The Four Tops' 1964 release, and... the Commodores' Millennium Collection.

It's odd. I had a whole stack of Beatles songs I loved as a kid, but now that I'm older and I've looked into things a little more, there are so many more that really appeal to me. The entirety of the Sgt. Pepper's album, for one.

Nice choices. The Four Tops are pretty darn good. Are you a fan of Dusty Springfield?

Guillame looks reluctant for a moment to admit to liking any 20th-century music, but " 'In My Life' is very nice."

"Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah," and Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet "and The Great Organ Works of Bach."

It is. I've got a weakness of 'A Day In The Life' -- love how it changes part way through.

Interesting. I don't know if you'd have the right sort of acoustics for those on an island, but interesting nonetheless.

'I am the Walrus'. It's a fun song!

I've never really been into the more psychedelic/surreal stuff. 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is about as much as I can handle.

And on your island?

Ah, that's fair! It's not for everyone!

I'm really bad at deciding things... I think I would bring The Dresden Dolls because I imagine being stuck on an island would be stressy, and singing along to that CD destresses me (destress? unstress? I can't think of a good word to go there.) It'll take Much Thought to come up with the other two.
