A tired, happy, sneaky grin.

"Say I had a brilliant idea, what medium should I put it in? I'm thinkin' poetry 'cause I got another poem due in creative writin' in a couple weeks, but it'd be a cool short story an' I'd have fun paintin' it, too..."

Enzan smiled brightly at Victor. "Why not try all three? You could mix the stages up, or put it together like a book with pictures."

A beaming grin. "That'd be awesome!"

"If you made it, it would. How are you doing lately, Victor?"

"Hee, thank y'."

Wow, what a loaded question. "I've been okay. Happy mostly. Stressed wi' school an' certain misconceptions. But! I've been inspired, an' that's nice. How've you been?"

Enzan was good at those, and he wasn't even trying this time. "School's been stressful? Just because of classes?"

There was no need to bring up those misconceptions again, after all.

"Good. Sorta. I have to go back to school, but besides that I'm okay."

"Classes're insanely hard, yeah..."

"Can I help? I'm good at math!"

But not so good at anything involving literature.

"Oh, thanks! I took math durin' the summer." She lowered her voice. "I even got an A."

"Act'lly, part of what's makin' it tough on me is that I'm takin' British lit, American lit, creative writin' an' political science, all in the same semester."

"Ew." Enzan made a face. "That sounds like it's tough, yeah."

"It's pretty high-stress." Nod-nod. A teeny covered yawn.

"I'm not good in any of those subjects. I wish I could help."

"'S nice just talkin'. Talkin' 'thout bein' attached t' an anthology. It's nice."

"That's true. Um. What kind of college classes would you recommend?"

"Mmm. Geology class an' geology lab're pretty cool classes. Get t' play with rocks, an' sometimes acids."

"Acids?" That got his interest. "Do you get to melt things with them?"
