In one of the Nexus' many areas, something strange is happening again ( Read more... )

Georik was drawn to the fog this time. He had spotted it before he seen it, and despite all common sense (and Mephistopheles' stern word of caution) he went inside, his cloak wrapped tightly around himself to try to keep out the damp chill.

Before Georik knows it, he's wandering through a cobblestone maze of alleys and underhalls, the experience made all the more claustrophobic by the fog that seems to cling to him as he goes. Rickety wooden structures block the path at some intervals, and there's a foul, tarry smell in the air that grows stronger as he wanders further and further into the lurid dream-world that has sprung up, seemingly out of nowhere.

The doctor could not feel the devil's presence quite as strongly in the mist, but he wasn't immediately aware of this fact. The wooden structures immediately reminded him of Block 53 of the Industrial district, and that warehouse... Georik immediately shook his head, trying to block out the memory of that Sabbath.

The smell does snapped him out of these dark thoughts, and he tried to peer around the choking, closed-in space for the source.

It's hard to pinpoint the source in this near-darkness, but the fog seems to be diminishing somewhat... isn't it?

Something red is barely visible through the darkness, on the ground in front of Georik.

Revan is one of those poor souls that has the fog sneak up on him, and soon finds himself quite lost in it. At least this time he knows the lightsaber won't do any good, and just starts to wander, stretching out his perception in the Force, to try to sense what he can sense and see if there's anyone else nearby. He'd rather wander around with a sense of unease with someone else around than alone.

The things Revan picks up from his connection to the Force might feel strange. As the fog around him thickens, everything becomes dull and unresponsive, as if the world itself disappeared completely. This continues for almost a minute, enough to feel like everything around him is dead.

Then, the ground rustles beneath his feet as he finds himself standing on a forest bed of hard, dry soil and broken branches. The trees around him are thick, covering everything in darkness, but another step will make him realize that he's standing on a thin road.

His connection with the Force seems useless here. Everything isn't so much dead, as... Stiff and unresponsive. Almost like everything is asleep. A dull, empty kind of sleep.

He mentally recoils from the feeling, shivering from the cold and from the emptiness. It's nothing that he's ever felt before, not in an environment, and it disturbs him. Even Malachor V hadn't felt like this.

He looks the trees over for a while, turning in a slow circle, before starting to head down along the road. He wants to view this logically, and from a logical standpoint, all roads lead somewhere. Out of the fog would too much to ask, but hopefully somewhere that feels less wrong to him is down that way.

He's cursing quietly under his breath as he goes.

His surroundings barely change at first, but that changes soon enough. Small lights break through the forest's darkness, shining between the trees. They're rather weak, like something partially covers them from Revan's sight, but as he walks, it becomes apparent that they might lie in the same direction the road leads in.

As he passes a particularly dark area between the trees, a small sound echoes to the side of him... A small object falling into water? In a dry place like this? It might be worth investigating.

On other hand, it might be worth running away from.

After sparring with Faye, Harley decides to take a short cut through the Nexus. Of course seeing the familiar fog again is like a lure, a memory haunted. And she soon finds herself in the depth of it.

Spike was on one of his traditional rambles through the Nexus when he spotted the insidious fog, or rather, the insidious fog crept up on him quite suddenly. He felt immediately uneasy, and for some unexplainable reason, intensely worried about Harley. He felt with certainty that she was inside the fog, and that he had to find her.

So without hesitation he plunged inside, wandering about in no particular direction until he caught the hint of a familiar scent. He followed it, almost at a jog now, until in the far distance (although this was subjective, distance became somehow difficult to judge in the all-ecompassing fog) he thought he saw Harley. "Harley!" He called, as loud as he could muster, his jog turning into a full-out sprint as he pursued her.

A voice echoed through the fog, and for a second Harley thought her mind was playing tricks on her. But then she turned and saw him. Her Spike. Coming towards her through the fog. She was so glad that it was not her imagination and rushed into his arms.

This close he could see her injuries.

Spike hugged her tightly. "You come here often?" He asked, with a bit of a shaky laugh. This place gave him all kinds of bad vibes, and he was trying to dispel vague feelings of unease in the pit of his stomach.

Then he leaned back slightly to look at her properly, and saw the various cuts and bruises. "Bloody Hell, what the- what happened, love?"

Ichigo really should pay attention to where she's going.

But once again, distraction costs her, and she walks right into the patch of cool, misty air without noticing right away.

A stone outcropping directs the royal cousin's path towards what appears to be some kind of service tunnel. It's cold and wet in here, and the air feels heavy. If Ichigo strains her ears, she can probably hear water lapping against a shore in the distance.

She slows down when the sound reaches her ears, and almost turns back... but, no. Instead she moves forward, cautiously. Maybe that'll be the way out...?

Though the fog makes it impossible to see very far ahead, it's getting a bit lighter and the walls seem to have fallen away from Ichigo. The ground is littered with bits of gravel and some greyish, manmade substance, and as she moves closer to the source of the noise, a chainlink fence seems to spring up out of nowhere to block her path!

To make matters worse, a rank, greasy odour hangs in the air. Dead fish.

Hey look, fog! That came about pretty suddenly and unexpectedly. At least, in Rai's estimation.

And with his relative newness to the Nexus, he really doesn't understand that this it is generally a Bad Idea to investigate strange happenings. So there's nothing stopping him from strolling into the fog.

And while the fog makes him feel incredibly uneasy, that's never stopped him from doing anything before.

It doesn't take long before the fog thickens and hides everything from view. As Rai continues walking, the echo from his footsteps slowly changes, from regular stone walkway to dull cement floor. Finally, the fog disappears and he finds himself standing in a narrow corridor. The building around him is made of cement, with walls decorated with graffiti and a dirty window opening into what looks like a guard room.

In front of him, is a large door made of rusted metal. It seems to be unlocked... Will Rai make another step through it?

The change in locale was noticed fairly quickly. As far as he knew, the Nexus didn't exactly shift as much as this did. Something was wrong.

But, he was really, really curious now. Especially when he came to a stop. Where did this stuff come from? Why's the door so rusted? Why, exactly, was every system and instinct he had developed screaming at him to run away? These were important questions, dammit!

So, after a moment of steeling his nerves and a quick "Nothing ventured....", Rai moves towards the door. He's going in.

The door opens with a loud, rusted screech, like it hasn't been used for quite some time. The fog immediately pours inside, turning the air around the reploid into a white soup, and then he finds himself...

Outside? It looks like the guard post was an entrance point into a small town. The details are difficult to tell - everything around him is blurred out and obscured by horrid weather. If he focuses hard enough, he might figure out a large building in front of him; glass windows and a small garden in the front point it out as a flower store. As for everything else around him...

For that, he might have to explore.
