Ether sits on one of the Nexus couches that reappeared after water drained. Despite the long underwater journey and a generous coating of barnacles, the couch is doing good. Its inhabitant doesn't. He looks bothered with something.
"So. Imagine you know this person. Their moral code's pretty high. Not saint, but some things, they won't do if you point a gun to their head. They refuse to move away from restrictions they created for themselves."
"Except that their job is dirty. Killing, stealing, messy stuff is involved. They're very good with it. Their moral code extends to work, it keeps things cleaner and sometimes takes away opportunities. Still, they refuse to break it."
The android tilts his head in curiosity.
"How do you see that combination? Is it stupid, admirable or inconvenient, do you think it's going to get them killed, whatever. How do you feel about it?"
