Picspam: Because Allan Deserved More
I decided to do a picspam of my top 5 Allan moments from Robin Hood, because High-Fidelity style Top 5s are made of win and because Allan deserves to be remembered like this.
1. Marian Hug - 2x11, Treasure of the Nation
Well, the entire dressing-up-as-the-Nightwatchman-and-saving-Marian's-life thing, but this scene especially. She saved his life, he saved hers, now they're even and bonded together forever. THEN THEY HUG. Oh, my 'shipper heart; it just burst with joy.
Guy: You're safe.
Marian: You did this for me?
Allan: Errr...
Marian: *laughs* both of you.
Allan: Well, what's bein' chased by angry soldiers between friends, eh?

Marian: Thank you, you saved my life.
2. Nun Tackle - 2x08, Get Carter
If I wasn't so busy lazy I'd have learnt how to make an animated .gif for this one because screencaps can't really do it justice. Hilarious. And doing it for Marian again ♥
Allan: Gisborne; wants me to find you. I mean obviously I didn't tell him you'd probably be here.
Marian: Well, obviously.
Allan: No, but I'm gonna need to tell him something, right? So I was thinking, I could tell him you've joined up with the Sisters of Immaculate Conception - Ripley Convent.
Marian: Would he believe that?
Allan: Yeah! Well, I was thinking, you could write a note - saying you just wanted to be left alone. A bit of praying, grieving, whatever.
Marian: Why would you help me?
Allan: Look, I'm not all bad!
Marian: *shakes head* And any letters from the convent have to be sealed by the Mother Superior.
Allan: I can sort that.
Marian: How?
Allan: I'm good wi' nuns.
3. Cuddling the Dog - 1x02, Sheriff Got Your Tongue?
I'm not sure if this is more of an Allan moment or a Joe Armstrong moment. Complete and utter cuteness either way. There's all sorts of important talk and action going on, but all Allan/Joe is interested in is the dog. What I find even funnier is that the rest of the gang don't appear to even notice, let alone be annoyed that he's not helping with the rescue.
Allan: Who's a good boy, eh?
[to Much] Need some 'elp?
*continues to play with dog for rest of scene*
4. First Scene - 1x01, Will You Tolerate This?
I love that Allan's the first person we see, and it sets up his character perfectly; the anything-to-survive attitude, his cheekiness and gift of the gab. Plus, he looks particularly gorgeous.
*Takes aim*
*hears horses*
*sees guards*
*legs it*
*gets caught*
Guard 1: Hold him! You know the law.
Allan: I know the law's an ass!
Guard 1: The price for one of the king's deer is your right hand. Let's go.
Allan: Oh, please, have mercy; my wife!
Guard 1: What?
Allan: My wife expects a child, we have no food; she must eat or we will lose the baby!
Guard 1: Then, when she has the baby you will say you must steal because you have another mouth to feed. Bring him!
Allan: Please no! I need my hand!
Guard 1: We can punish you now. If you admit your guilt and save us time, the punishment is lessened; we can take a finger. But you will have no right to trial, no defense, no appeal.
Allan: I will lose a trial, and my hand...take the finger.
Guard 1: Do it.
Guard 2: Pop your 'and on 'ere, like this.
Allan: No, I've changed my mind.
Guard 2: No appeal.
5. Tortured by Guy - 2x01, Sisterhood
Topless. Wet. I am only human.
Guy: Been having fun?
Hood was here, did you know? Didn't try and rescue you.
So. I was thinking. One chance to live.
Allan: I'm not helping you kill Robin. I'm not helping you kill anyone.
Guy: Yeah, I respect you for that.
Honourable Mentions:
- Baby-dangling (Michael Jackson homage maybe?) - 1x04, Parenthood
- Professing his innocence (Joe's acting is tremendous) - 3x12, Something Worth Fighting For
- Robin discovers him as traitor (You are always in the sun/I am always in the shade) - 2x05, Ducking and Diving
