Summary: The rain won't stop them.
The rain was driving down hard as Allan walked through the forest. Big, fat drops fell from the trees and onto his head, running into his eyes. It was the kind of rain that was best experienced from under a dry roof; fascinating to watch but hell to be under.
Marian didn't know whether to hitch up her skirts or hold the wooden plate she had borrowed from the kitchen over her head. She tried to do both, but failed miserably. More vain concerning her hair than her hem, she held the plate aloft and stepped out into the downpour.
They had made a promise to meet and not even the weather gods would cause them to break that promise.
