Just Some Thoughts...

I'm still not done writing up my Egypt memoirs. Although I feel like there's no sense in posting it because Ben and Kathy's were both so thorough and gave everyone such a complete idea of the trip that mine wouldn't add anything ( Read more... )

I would like to read yours too, gives different perspectives. Can't wait for your pictures too!

I felt that way with Europe too and so I went to London for almost a month. By 2 weeks in I was ready to go back home. Silly things kept getting to me. Just wasn't for me. I also hated living in NYC too, so maybe it is just a city thing. I would love to have a house in MV or some nice European countryside to visit for a month or so at a time and relax.

See, I feel like I would feel much more at home in a more rural environment. Cities are too Americanized and the people that live there usually live a lifestyle similar to the one we are used to. I want something completely different. The lifestyle of those from America, even tho they may not have as much in terms of money or material possessions, seems less stressful and more laid back. They have what they have and they love what they love and do what they do and they are perfectly happy with that.

That is partially why I moved to SRQ. I thought it would be more simple even though it is a city, but not as crowded. It is a little easier, but only cause it is less crowded so it is not my perfect town from sleeping with the enemy.

Still, I do long for somewhere even more simple, but on a part time basis. My father went stir crazy living full time in MV. I just need to get away more often! Another reason I love cruises, because you are forced to just relax and no go go go...

I think after awhile, I'd have to rejoin American society because that is what I am so conditioned for. But i would definitely definitely like 3-6 months of life outside of America. For the experience and for the opportunity to view life in a completely different way than I am used to. It seems like everyone but us truly knows how to appreciate all the things life has to offer, not just do them and move on.

I would love to get away for 3-6 months. Sounds awesome, but I couldn't leave my fluffer for that long. I so wished I did a semester abroad when I was in college. They also now have semesters at sea and this one girl went around the entire world. That would have been amazing.

Anyways, check out this site. Maybe find something interesting.

I really should have done a semester abroad too but did not think of it until it was too late and I was on the verge of graduating. My cousin goes to Tulane and he is an Ancient History major and he's on a semester at sea right now. Actually, I think he might just be in Egypt.
