Peter Pan

I went and saw 'Peter Pan' this evening, here is my review;

This realistic version of the long time running, famous cartoon will not disappoint. Enjoyable for all ages this film tells the story of Wendy, played by the young and very talented Rachel Hurd-Wood, and her two brothers Michael (Freddie Popplewell) and John (Harry Newell) taking off on an adventure to Neverland, escorted by Peter Pan, who is played by another talented actor, Jeremy Sumpter. In Neverland however they must overcome and defeat the ways of Captain Hook (Jason Issacs).
Now I know that I have called the two main actors in this film, who happen to be in their early teens, 'talented', but there acting in this film was nothing short of brilliant. They both gave convincing performances in relation to the genre and style of film, and the chemistry between the two could be felt from the moment they meet, all the way until the final scene. And to think that this is Rachel Hurd-Wood's first role - you wouldn't think so. I believe we shall be seeing more of her to come in the future. The film incorporates elements of adventure, suspense and tragedy, tied together with light hearted comedy that is suitable for all ages. All the performances are terrific, but none better given by Rachel and Jeremy, however there are times when the dialouge makes you cringe a little. With a warm storyline and bright, colourful settings to add, this movie will make you leave the cinema feeling a little better than when you entered.

FINAL THOUGHT: An enjoyable, all round entertaining film, for anyone and everyone.

RATING: 8/10
