I know I made a big deal about my hair, but at the time I was sort of in shock over it actually being my most prized possession. I mean, what kind of person values their hair the most? Everyone elses thingie was an heirloom, or something sentimental from childhood. If I someone had asked me what my favourite possessions were, I probably would have said "my art supplies". But then it occurred to me that I haven't really used them much since Christmas hols.
I want to say that this means I'm just not a materialist and that the things I value are more intangible...like memories, friendships, and that rare feeling of absolute surprise and bowled-overness you get when you see two people who can't stand each other actually share a genuine laugh. And those things really can't be thought of as possessions....they're just too transient.
