Welcome back, Sam! AKA, thoughts on "Black"
The two things that stood out the most for me in the season premiere?
FINALLY getting SAM back and Dean smiling.
I liked the ep, even though I do miss the old days when we would get the boys together (yes, I'm counting "In my time of dying" too, cause they were closer than EVER there), but hey, considering what's we're getting in the recent seasons, I guess we got a pretty good deal out of it.
Let's start off with Sam; hey man, it's good to see you again, guess we all agree on that. Guess what? the writers remembered that Sam is SMART, does RESEARCH and when he WANTS he CAN find his brother. even if the last time he saw him he was lying dead in his bed (ouch, that still hurts). See, Jeremy, that wasn't so bad after all, huh? Sam is mighty pissed (I LOVE THAT) with Crowley and deadly determined to save Dean and get his brother back. good, good, good. Also, he way he kept repeating BROTHER over and over again, I was starting to think it was part of a ritual to summon Dean... ^^.
AND the tiny gasp he let out when he saw Dean's eyes turning black? oh my, that was so good, hurt like hell, but I'm loving Sam's mindset right now, straight from Mystery Spot). SAVE DEAN.
As for Demon!Dean (sorry, but there's no way in hell I'm using that Deanmon crap they're trying to sell, it's just HIDEOUS!), well, the first thing my brain registered was how much he smiled. Maybe it's because Demon!Dean managed to smile more in a single ep than Dean ever did during the WHOLE season 9.....maybe cause I love (and sorely miss) Dean's smile, but hey, even the fluffy hair (*grabby hands*) and those fucking biceps came second. ^^
In this first ep Demon!Dean looks to me more carefree than actually scary. He's a dick and surely LOVES throwing punches, but I guess we'll see the scary part in the second ep (or at least that's what it looks like from the promo). What I find very interesting instead, is how it looks like he's running from Sam.
Being this powerful, badass, careless demon, he shouldn't CARE at all about his little brother, and yet.... That "SAMMY let me go", and "I left you an open tab" and the general "lets-get-as-far-away-from-Sam-as-possible-even-with-a-random-chick" looks weird to me, as if he somewhat still cared. Not to mention the ending scene with him swearing to find and kill the guy who threatened to kill Sam, eventually. Ok, he's not rushing to save Sam (or at least that's what he's saying) but hey, why would he kill the guy if he really didn't care anymore about Sam?
Yup, something's not right.
Angels: well, I actually got no idea, as I basically fast forwarded all the scenes involving them. whoops. it resulted in ep episode which was cut a little short, but it definitely beats enduring that lame storyline. At least Castiel is not with either brother, so I can ff and not miss any Sam&Dean scene. yay.
There's only one bit I've seen, and I actually wish I hadn't... why THE HELL would Castiel agree to search for 2 angels who chose not to go back to heaven and kill them? As long as the'yre not hurting anyone (and it didn't look like they were), why would they deserve to die? So now, ask me again why I can't stand angels, and since the storyline is no longer making sense to me, Fast Forward it is. ^^
All in all, it was an enjoyable ep, both Js were great as usual and I like Crowley, so I'm quite ok with that. Can't wait to have the brothers reunited and see Sam finally curing Dean. If only we could have that with Sam putting the Samulet back around his brother's neck, but hey, that would be far TOO perfect, so I'll better lower my expectations right now and start hoping for a great brothers' scene and a LONG OVERDUE HUG at the end. That would do too.
