Graduate School

As you probably know, I've been planning to take some time working before graduate school, despite my father's disapproval. I definitely still don't think my father's reasoning is good, but I'm now consider applying for public policy and public administration degree programs for next fall due to unusual circumnstances.

As you probably also know, some of the grant money I receive at Swarthmore comes from a guy named Stanley Weithorn. Stanley has attempted to get in touch with my via letter; I never received the letter, so instead I got called into Fin Aid where Sydney Pasternack explains that Mr. Weithorn has been known to pay for grad school for students and thinks I'm great. "So, are you going to grad school?" she asks.

Well, if this turns out to be as great an opportunity as it sounds, I sure as hell will be.

The bad part is that the best schools' deadlines have already passed. This leaves me considering:

Villanova (MPA) - August 1
GMU (MPP) - July 1
Penn (MGA) -- July 15 (Jan 15 for fin aid priority)
Penn State Harrisburg (MPA) -- May 31
William & Mary (MPP) - After Feb. 15 if space in program
GWU (MPP) (for Spring term) - Oct. 15
CUNY Baruch College (MPA) - May 1

At Penn, W&M, and GWU I've half-missed the deadlines but could make it on a long shot. Of the remaining schools, I'm most interested in CUNY because I don't like the idea of living in Villanova, Fairfax, or Harrisburg.

I'm going to talk to Profs. Nackenoff and Dee late this week to see if they think applying now is a good idea. If so, I proceed with GREs, recommendations, etc.
