"Right there!"
The guards outside the room were leaning against the door listening to the 'conversation' inside. Their eyebrows were raised almost high enough to disappear into their hairline.
"Yes!"
"No! Yozak not there... Wrong hole!"
The guards looked at each other and listened closer. What on earth was happening behind those doors. Well, okay, they could guess and the maids would be delighted at this turn of events. Possibly even pleased enough to agree to a date? Who knew!
"Yes... We're so close now Yozak!"
"Just a little more, Gisela, almost there ... I never thought we'd be doing this."
"I know... Yes... One more..."
"Yes!"
"That's it... Just like that!"
The guards heard footsteps coming down the hallway and went to move away from the door. They stumbled, falling against the door. The door crashed open, leaving them in a crumpled heap on the floor. They slapped their hands over their eyes before they could see anything.
Shocked silence greeted them and the guards braved a peek. Yozak and Gisela stood over them, hands on hips and looking down at them. They were both fully dressed, to the guards surprise.
Yozak bent to help them up. They stood looking around the room and at each other. They had heard ... What?
On the table behind the pair now looking at them with strange expressions sat a picture, made up of many, many pieces.
They had been working on a kid's puzzle?
They guards looked at each other and their jaws dropped. They apologized and excused themselves, blushing furiously.
Guess they would have to find some other scandle if they wanted to collect on that date with the maids...
