He stands in front of the marble dais in the Shrine, a small bundle in his arms. He crooks a finger at the small parcel, pulling the white cloth wrapping it back. Five small, but perfect fingers grasp at his own large finger, wrapping themselves gently around the digit ( ... )

Yozak looked up at the brunette from his seat at the side of the room. The captain was dancing with someone else. Their bodies twirling around each other with such delicate beauty. Long limbs stepping gracefully around each other.

Desire and alcohol moved around his body as he stands, walking over to his commanding officer.

'Now there would be a concept...' Yozak thought to himself. 'I already know that I would go to the ends of the world for him. Anything he asks I would gladly do. But how far could it go?'

Yozak coughs politely and attracts Conrad's attention.

"Mind if I cut in?"

Conrad smiles, his brown eyes glinting. Yozak took the brunette's hand and started moving around the dance floor. His hips were tight against Conrad's as the song tempo changed, fast to slow but steady. Yozak's lips moved to speak the words...

"If we sleep together
Will you like me better
If we come together
We'll go down forever
If we sleep together
Will I like you better
If we come together
Prove it now or never"Conrad stopped moving, ( ... )

He stood on the balcony of her room, looking over the garden. Dark shadows crept through the garden as the breeze blew the lanterns. He was back, through whatever means. Shinou knew what brought him back but he was thankful. The world had moved on while he had gone. There were now two Cecelies but his, his was still as beautiful as the day that he had walked out on her. He had tried to capture a wild bird and he could not stay. He would have broken those wings, possibly too badly to ever mend. He regretted it, but at the same time it was necessary. She had Raven now. He always knew that she would fly to him eventually. He could hardly blame her. A fellow Mazoku who wouldn't age and die in a blink of her eye ( ... )

"Shinou-san, I never did get a chance to talk to you." The Maou began, finally managing to extricate himself from all the official conversations he was forced to endure.

The Shinou looked up at Yuuri, his expression masked.

Yuuri had to admit to being slightly afraid of this man. His very presence unsettled him whenever he was less than five paces away. Raw power emanated from his core. Swallowing, he continued.

"Has anyone thanked you?"

The question caused the Shinou to pause. He could not catch the expression of surprise that chased its way across his face.

"No." He replied simply.

"Thank you," Yuuri said. "You and your double risked a lot to try to revive my double and return him to us. I am grateful that you tried."

The Shinou looked at the young boy as he nodded and walked away. It had been a very, very long time since anyone thanked him for simply doing his job... It was nice. He smiled to himself.

'Maybe I picked the right person as Maou, after all.'
