1) Adam doesn't learn about Kris' security suite until after they get together and move to NY. It's nice to know that Draghos approves of the relationship, but when he expresses his approval by sending sextoys to Kris, Adam gets the wrong idea and sits Kris down to find out who is sending him sex toys. It's shortly after that that Adam meets the suite! :)
2) Adam reconsiders not shooting Cale after he finds out that Cale knocked up Allison. He's a little upset that his baby sister spends half her day with her head over the toilet bowl. But he holds off on actually shooting him when he realises that they actually love each other and Cale does eventually propose - when she finally let him propose that is.
3) Gee actually quite likes Kris and Drey is probably the first to realise it. Adam starts to figure it out when Drey asks him along to a night of dinner and dancing as Juniper's plus one. Adam and Drey spend a lot of the night on the dance floor, but Gee (and Kris to a lesser degree) spends the night propping up the bar. Gee's not a great dancer, he's a little big and Drey's a little small and he worries about stepping on him. But Kris manages to get him up on the dance floor and dancing with Drey as he cuddles up against Adam for a slow set. Kris understands Gee in a way that not even Adam can. Gee's not social like Adam and spends the time watching, just like Kris does. That's why Gee calls Kris every so often when he needs to talk. Adam didn't understand it at first, but he trusts Kris and leaves him to talk without listening in.
Adam's first ship was The Dolphin, serving under Samuel Inless. Samuel Inless was a capable Captain and taught Adam a lot about the nuts and bolts of piracy. Nathaniel North was Inless' quartermaster and took Adam under his wing back when he was an ordinary seaman.
The Dolphin was part of a rather famous attack on the Ile Sainte-Marie. Adam was assigned to North's group and suggested that instead of a head on attack, Adam suggested a little subterfuge. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Adam ended up in a dress because it was his idea. After a rather definitive victory, Adam was promoted to third mate, and North was raised to first mate.
Adam's share of the plunder was £400. He left The Dolphin shortly after that and bought himself a bar in New Providence.
However, that was far too quiet a life for Adam and he itched to get back to the sea. He joined up with a merchant ship owned and captained by Woodes Rogers but he was rather underwhelmed by the whole experience.
When he left, Adam took his salary, the profits from the bar and the remainder of his tithe from The Dolphin and bought himself a ship. This very first ship was called The Madness.
He called on North to help him put together a crew. Hornigold signed on as first mate but he didn't work well with Adam or Adam's methods. He was set ashore following a mutiny attempt and Adam never regretted it.
It wasn't until Adam took a 16-gun Navy resupply ship commanded by a rather nasty Captain, that Adam found a suitable replacement for Hornigold, a young naval Lieutenant who hated the Navy with a fiery passion and was a low down sneaky son-of-a-bitch. The Lieutenant managed to stab him clear through the thigh during a duel and yes, that was enough to impress Adam. No one had landed a blade on him since he was nothing more than a seaman!
I just realised that I completely failed in answering this. Oops.
Um, belatedly, let's see...
When he gets to NY, Kris kinda forces Adam to persue his dream and mentions to Allison that she really should start getting people in to listen to Adam on the nights that he performs. She did and Adam got picked up after a couple of weeks - a combination of kick-ass talent and the edgy street samurai angle that people can't help but be attracted to.
Adam's first PA decided that Kris wasn't celebrity friendly and, on consultation with the record company, embarked on a campaign to break them up, mainly by not putting his calls through. However, this really came back to bite them when Kris rang because he urgently needed help and injured. It took Allison coming down to the recording studio and barging her way in to get past Adam's PA. Adam had some choice words to say to the PA and the company after that, but only after he went to the hospital to see Kris.
Adam's next security and PA were co-chosen by Kris and Adam's still convinced that they prefer Kris to him!
And yes, there is a sequel in the works for The Highest of Seas, The Lowest of Men. So far it's title is The Precipice of Reason, The Edge of Madness. So far, it's going well... But lots of angst ahead!
